Galatians 1

 1This letter is from Sha'uwl, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group or by human authority. My call is from YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach Himself and from YaHuWaH the Father, Who raised YaHuWSHuWaH from the dead.

     2 All the brothers and sisters here join me in sending greetings to the assemblies of Galatia.

     3 May favour and shalom be yours from YaHuWaH our Father and from the Master YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach.  4 He died for our sins, just as YaHuWaH our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.  5 That is why all esteem belongs to YaHuWaH through all the ages of eternity. Amein.

 6 I am stunned into silence that you are turning away so soon from YaHuWaH, Who in His love and mercy called you to share the eternal life He gives through haMashiyach. You are already following a different way  7 that pretends to be the Besorah but is not the Besorah at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning haMashiyach.

     8 Let YaHuWaH's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if a Messenger comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed.  9 I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other Besorah than the one you welcomed, let YaHuWaH's curse fall upon that person.

     10 Obviously, I'm not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please YaHuWaH. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be haMashiyach's servant.

    11 Dear brothers and sisters, I solemnly assure you that the Besorah of deliverance which I preach is not based on mere human reasoning or logic.  12 For my message came by a direct revelation from YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach Himself. No one else taught me.

     13 You know what I was like when I followed the Yahuwdish religion--how I violently persecuted the Nastarims. I did my best to get rid of them.  14 I was one of the most religious Yahuwdims of my own age, and I tried as hard as possible to follow all the old traditions of my religion.

     15 But then something happened! For it pleased YaHuWaH in His kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy!  16 Then He revealed His Son to me so that I could proclaim the Besorah about YaHuWSHuWaH to the nations. When all this happened to me, I did not rush out to consult with anyone else;  17 nor did I go up to Yahrushalom to consult with those who were apostles before I was. No, I went away into Arabia and later returned to the city of Damascus.  18 It was not until three years later that I finally went to Yahrushalom for a visit with Kepha and stayed there with him for fifteen days. 19 And the only other apostle I met at that time was Ya'aqob, our Master's brother.  20 You must believe what I am saying, for I declare before YaHuWaH that I am not lying. 21 Then after this visit, I went north into the provinces of Syria and Cilicia.  22 And still the Nastarims in the assemblies in Yahuwdah didn't know me personally.  23 All they knew was that people were saying, "The one who used to persecute us now preaches the very belief he tried to destroy!"  24 And they gave esteem to YaHuWaH because of me.

Galatians 2

 1 Then fourteen years later I went back to Yahrushalom again, this time with Barnabas; and Titus came along, too.  2 I went there because YaHuWaH revealed to me that I should go. While I was there I talked privately with the leaders of the assembly. I wanted them to understand what I had been preaching to the nations. I wanted to make sure they did not disagree, or my ministry would have been useless.  3 And they did agree. They did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Greek.

     4 Even that question wouldn't have come up except for some so-called Nastarims there--false ones, really--who came to spy on us and see our freedom in haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH. They wanted to force us, like slaves, to follow their Yahuwdish regulations.  5 But we refused to listen to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the Besorah for you.

     6 And the leaders of the assembly who were there had nothing to add to what I was preaching. (By the way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for YaHuWaH has no favorites.)  7 They saw that YaHuWaH had given me the responsibility of preaching the Besorah to the nations, just as he had given Kepha the responsibility of preaching to the Yahuwdims.  8 For the same YaHuWaH who worked through Kepha for the benefit of the Yahuwdims worked through me for the benefit of the nations.  9 In fact, Ya'aqob, Kepha, and Yahuwchanan, who were known as pillars of the assembly, recognized the gift YaHuWaH had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the nations, while they continued their work with the Yahuwdims.  10 The only thing they suggested was that we remember to help the poor, and I have certainly been eager to do that.

Sha'ul Confronts Kepha

 11 But when Kepha came to Antioch, I had to oppose him publicly, speaking strongly against what he was doing, for it was very wrong.  12 When he first arrived, he ate with the gentile Nastarims. But afterward, when some Yahuwdish friends of Ya'aqob came, Kepha wouldn't eat with the nations anymore because he was afraid of what those of the circumcision would say.  13 Then the other Yahuwdish Nastarims followed Kepha's hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was influenced to join them in their hypocrisy.

     14 When I saw that they were not following the truth of the Besorah, I said to Kepha in front of all the others, "Since you, being a Yahuwdim live as a gentile and not a Yahuwdim why do you compel the gentiles to live as Yahuwdim? 15 You and I are Yahuwdims by birth, not sinners like the nations.  16 And yet we Yahuwdish Nastarims know that man is not declared right by works of the Torah, but by belief in YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach. So we have believed in haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH, that we might be accepted by YaHuWaH because of our belief in haMashiyach--and not by the works of the Torah, because by works of Torah no flesh shall be declared right.

     17 But what if we seek to be made right with YaHuWaH through belief in haMashiyach and then find out that we are still sinners? Has haMashiyach led us into sin? Of course not!  18 Rather, I make myself guilty if I rebuild the old system I already tore down.  19 For when I tried to keep the Torah, I realized I could never earn YaHuWaH's approval. So I died to the Torah so that I might live for YaHuWaH. I have been impaled with haMashiyach.  20 I myself no longer live, but haMashiyach lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of YaHuWaH, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.  21 I am not one of those who treats the favour of YaHuWaH as meaningless. For if righteousness is through Torah, then there was no need for haMashiyach to die.

Galatians 3

 1 Oh, foolish, deficient, Galatians! What magician has cast an evil spell on you? For you used to see the meaning of YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach's death as clearly as though I had shown you a signboard with a picture of haMashiyach dying on the stake.  2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Ruwach haQadosh by the works of the Torah? Of course not, for the Ruwach haQadosh came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about haMashiyach.  3 Have you lost your senses? After starting your Natsarim lives in the Ruwach haQadosh, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?  4 You have suffered so much for the Besorah. Surely it was not in vain, was it? Are you now going to just throw it all away?

     5 I ask you again, does YaHuWaH give you the Ruwach haQadosh and work miracles among you because you are doing the works of the Torah? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about haMashiyach.

     6 In the same way, "Abraham believed  YaHuWaH, so YaHuWaH declared him righteous because of his belief."  7 The real children of Abraham, then, are all those who put their belief in YaHuWaH. (The righteous one by his certainty of Me shall live.)

     8 What's more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when YaHuWaH would accept the nations, too, on the basis of their belief. YaHuWaH promised this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, "All nations will be blessed through you." 9 And so it is: All who put their belief in haMashiyach share the same blessing Abraham received because of his belief.

     10 But those who depend on the works of the Torah to make them right with YaHuWaH are under His curse, for the Scriptures say, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all that has been written in the book of the Torah, to do them.   11 Consequently, it is clear that no one can ever be right with YaHuWaH by trying to keep the Torah. For the Scriptures say, "...the righteous one by his certainty of Me, shall live."  12 How different from this way of belief is the way of Torah, which says, "The man who does them shall live by them."  13 But haMashiyach has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the Torah. When He was hung on the stake, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." 14 Through the work of haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH,  YaHuWaH has blessed the nations with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, and we Nastarims receive the promised Ruwach haQadosh through belief.

    15 Dear brothers and sisters, here's an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or amend an irrevocable agreement, so it is in this case.  16  YaHuWaH gave the promise to Abraham and his Seed. And notice that it doesn't say the promise was to his seeds, as if it meant many descendants. But the promise was to his Seed--and that, of course, means haMashiyach. 17 This is what I am trying to say: The agreement YaHuWaH made with Abraham in haMashiyach, could not be canceled 430 years later when YaHuWaH gave the Torah to Moshah. YaHuWaH would be breaking his promise.  18 For if the inheritance could be received only by Torah, then it would not be the result of accepting YaHuWaH's promise. But YaHuWaH gave it to Abraham as a promise.

     19 Well then, why was the Torah given? It was added because of apostasy, until the coming of the Heir (Seed) to Whom the promise was made, and Torah was given by Messengers by the hand of a mediator. 

[But this system of Torah was to last only until the coming of the Seed to whom YaHuWaH's promise was made. And there is this further difference. YaHuWaH gave His Torah to Messengers to give to Moshah, who was the mediator between YaHuWaH and the people.] 

20 Now a mediator is needed if two people enter into an agreement, but YaHuWaH acted on His own when He made His promise to Abraham.

     21 Well then, is there a conflict between YaHuWaH's Torah and  YaHuWaH's promises? Absolutely not! If the Torah could have given us new life, we could have been made right with YaHuWaH by obeying it.  22 But the Scriptures have declared that we are all prisoners of sin, so the only way to receive YaHuWaH's promise is to believe in YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach.

     23 Until belief in haMashiyach was shown to us as the way of becoming right with YaHuWaH, we were guarded by the Torah. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until we could put our belief in the coming Savior.

 24 Let me put it another way. The Torah was our tutor leading us toward haMashiyach until He came. So now, through belief in haMashiyach, we are declared right with YaHuWaH.  25 But now that belief in haMashiyach has come, we no longer need the tutor.  26 So you are all children of YaHuWaH through belief in haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH.  27 And all who have immersed in haMashiyach have put on haMashiyach.   28 There is no longer Yahuwdite or gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all Nastarims--you are one in haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH.  29 And now that you belong to haMashiyach, you are the true children of Abraham. You are His heirs, and now all the promises YaHuWaH gave to him belong to you.

Galatians 4

 1 Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves great wealth for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.  2 They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set.

     3 And that's the way it was with us before haMashiyach came. We were slaves to the spiritual powers of this world.  4 But when the fullness of time came,  YaHuWaH sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the Torah.  5  YaHuWaH sent Him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the Torah, so that He could adopt us as His very own children.  6 And because you the nations have become His children, YaHuWaH has sent the Ruwach haQadosh of His Son into your hearts, and now you can call YaHuWaH your dear Father.[Abba Father]  7 Now you are no longer a slave but YaHuWaH's own child. And if a child, also an heir of YaHuWaH through haMashiyach.

 8 Before you knew YaHuWaH, you were slaves to so-called mighty ones that do not even exist.  9 And now that you have found YaHuWaH (or should I say, now that YaHuWaH has found you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual powers of this world? 10 You have observed days, months, times and years. (of verse 8)[Leviticus 19:26; Deut. 18:10-14] 11 I fear for you. I am afraid that all my hard work for you was worth nothing.  12 Brothers I beg you to become as I am, because I am as you are. You did not wrong me at all.   

13 Surely you remember that I was sick when I first brought you the Besorah of haMashiyach.  14 But even though my sickness was revolting to you, you did not reject me and turn me away. No, you took me in and cared for me as though I were a messenger from YaHuWaH or even haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH Himself.  15 Where is that joyful ruwach we felt together then? In those days, I know you would gladly have taken out your own eyes and given them to me if it had been possible.  16 Have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?

     17 Those false teachers who are so anxious to win your favor are not doing it for your good. They are trying to confine you, that you might have envy for them.  18 Now it's wonderful if you are eager to do good, and especially when I am not with you.  19 But oh, my dear children! I feel as if I am going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until haMashiyach is fully developed in your lives.  20 How I wish I were there with you right now, so that I could be more gentle with you. But at this distance I frankly don't know what else to do.

    21 Listen to me, you who want to live under the Torah. Do you know what the Torah really says?  22 The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave-wife and one from his freeborn wife.  23 The son of the slave-wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of YaHuWaH's promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as YaHuWaH's own fulfillment of His promise.

     24 Now these two women serve as an illustration of YaHuWaH's two covenants. Hagar, the slave-wife, represents Mount Siynay which brings forth slavery.  25 And now Yahrushalom is just like Mount Siynay in Arab, because she and her children live in slavery.  26 But Sarah, the free woman, represents the heavenly Yahrushalom. And she is our mother.  27 That is what YashaYahuw meant when he prophesied,

    "Rejoice, O childless woman!

    Break forth into loud and joyful song,

       even though you never gave birth to a child.

    For the woman who could bear no children

       now has more than all the other women!"

     28 And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Yitshaq. 29 And we who are born of the Ruwach haQadosh are persecuted by those who want us to keep the Torah, just as Yitshaq, the child of promise, was persecuted by Yishma'el, the son of the slave-wife.

     30 But what do the Scriptures say about that? "Get rid of the slave and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the family inheritance with the free woman's son."  31 So, dear brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but are children of the free woman, acceptable to YaHuWaH because of our belief.

Galatians 5

 1 Stand firmly therefore in the freedom by which YaHuWSHuWaH has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

     2 Listen! I, Sha'ul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with YaHuWaH, then haMashiyach cannot help you.  3 I'll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with YaHuWaH by being circumcised, you must obey all of the (slaughter) regulations in the whole Torah of Moshah.  4 For if you are trying to make yourselves right with YaHuWaH by keeping the Torah, you have been cut off from haMashiyach! You have fallen away from YaHuWaH's favour.

     5 But we who live by the Ruwach haQadosh eagerly wait to receive everything promised to us who are declared right with YaHuWaH through belief.  6 For when we place our belief in haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH, it makes no difference to YaHuWaH whether we are circumcised or not circumcised. What is important is belief expressing itself in love.

     7 You were getting along so well. Who has interfered with you to hold you back from following the truth?  8 It certainly isn't YaHuWaH, for He is the One Who called you to freedom.  9 But it takes only one wrong person among you to infect all the others--a little yeast spreads quickly through the whole batch of dough!  10 I am trusting the Master to bring you back to believing as I do about these things.  YaHuWaH will judge that person, whoever it is, who has been troubling and confusing you.

     11 Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised--as some say I do--why would the Yahuwdims persecute me? The fact that I am still being persecuted proves that I am still preaching deliverance through the stake of haMashiyach alone.  12 I only wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate you by circumcision would mutilate (cut-off) themselves.

     13 For you have been called to live in freedom--not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love.  14 For the whole Torah can be summed up in this one Word/Manifestation: "Love your neighbor as yourself."  15 But if instead of showing love among yourselves you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

    16 So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Ruwach haQadosh. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Ruwach haQadosh wants. And the Ruwach haQadosh gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict. 18 But when you are directed by the Ruwach haQadosh, you are no longer under Torah.

     19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, 20 idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group,  21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Reign of YaHuWaH.

     22 But when the Ruwach haQadosh controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, shalom, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  23 gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the Torah.

     24 Those who belong to haMashiyach YaHuWSHuWaH have put to death the passions and desires of their sinful nature.  25 If we are living now by the Ruwach haQadosh, let us follow the Ruwach haQadosh's leading in every part of our lives.  26 Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another.

Galatians 6

 1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another Natsarim is overcome by some sin, you who are Set-apart should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the Torah of haMashiyach.  3 If you think you are too important to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself. You are really a nobody.

     4 Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else.  5 For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

     6 And let him who is instructed in the Word share in all that is good, with him who is instructing.

     7 Don't be misled. Remember that you can't ignore YaHuWaH and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow!  8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Ruwach haQadosh will harvest everlasting life from the Ruwach haQadosh.  9 So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.  10 Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Natsarim brothers and sisters.

    11 Notice what large letters I use as I write these closing words in my own handwriting. 12 Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised are doing it for just one reason. They don't want to be persecuted for teaching that the stake of haMashiyach alone can save.  13 And even those who advocate circumcision don't really keep the whole Torah. They only want you to be circumcised so they can brag about it and claim you as their disciples.

     14 As for me, YaHuWaH forbid that I should boast about anything except the stake of our Master YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach. Because of that stake, my interest in this world died long ago, and the world's interest in me is also long dead.  15 It doesn't make any difference now whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we really have been changed through haMashiyach into new and different people.  16 May YaHuWaH's mercy and shalom be upon all those who live by this principle. They are the Ysra'al of YaHuWaH.

     17 From now on, don't let anyone trouble me with these things. For I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to YaHuWSHuWaH. 

     18 My dear brothers and sisters, may the favour of our Master YaHuWSHuWaH haMashiyach be with you all. Amein.
