Dani'al
1:1 In the third year of the reign of Yahuwyaqim king of Yahuwdah came Nebuwkadne'tstsar king of Babel to Yarushalum, and besieged it. 2 And YaHuWaH gave Yahuwyaqim king of Yahuwdah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the House of YaHuWaH and he carried them into the land of Shin'ar (Babel) --
[ZekarYahuw 5:10 Then said I to the messenger who talked with me, “Where are these carrying the efah-measure?” 5:11 He said to me, “To build it a house in the land of Shin'ar. When it is prepared, it will be set there in its base.” [where Tower of Babel was built - the territory of the King of the North and "the beast ?" modern-day Babel ?]
to the house of his mighty one, and the vessels he brought into the treasure-house of his mighty one. 3 And the king spoke to Ashpenaz his chief officer, that he should bring in certain of the children of Ysra'al, and of the royal seed, and of the nobles, 4 youths in whom was no blemish, but fair to look on, and skilful in all wisdom, and skilful in knowledge, and discerning in thought, and such as had ability to stand in the king's palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the tongue of the Kasdiy. 5 And the king appointed for them a daily portion of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; and that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. 6 Now among these were, of the children of Yahuwdah, Dani'al, ChananYahuw, Miysha'el, and AzaYahuw. 7 And the chief of the officers gave names to them: to Dani'al he gave the name of Beltesha'tstsar; and to ChananYahuw, of Shadrach; and to Miysha'el, of Meshach; and to AzaYahuw, of Abed-nego. 8 But Dani'al purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's food (unclean), nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the officers that he might not defile himself. 9 And YaHuWaH gave Dani'al mercy and compassion in the sight of the chief of the officers. 10 And the chief of the officers said to Dani'al: 'I fear my Master the king, who has appointed your food and your drink; for why should he see your faces sad in comparison with the youths that are of your own age? So would you endanger my head with the king.' 11 Then Dani'al said to the steward, whom the chief of the officers had appointed over Dani'al, ChananYahuw, Miysha'el, and AzaYahuw: 12 'Try your servants, I beseech you, ten days; (Yom Teruah to Yom Kippur ?) this is the type of - Rev. 2:10 Do not at all fear what things you are about to be suffering. Behold, the slanderer is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tried; and you shall have affliction ten days. ] and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. 13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before you, and the countenance of the youths that eat of the king's food; and as you see, deal with your servants.' 14 So he listened to them in this matter, and tried them ten days. 15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths that did eat of the king's food. 16 So the steward took away their food, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse. 17 Now as for these four youths, the Aluahiym gave them knowledge [da'ath] and skill in all learning and wisdom [chokmah]; and Dani'al had understanding [biynah] in all visions and dreams. 18 And at the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the chief of the officers brought them in before Nebuwkadne'tstsar. 19 And the king spoke with them; and among them all there was found none like Dani'al, ChananYahuw, Miysha'el, and AzaYahuw; therefore they stood before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his realm. 21 And Dani'al continued even to the first year of king Koresh. (1 "time" for each of the "ten" days of trying")
2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuwkadne'tstsar, Nebuwkadne'tstsar dreamed dreams; and his ruwach was troubled, and his sleep broke from him. 2 Then the king gave orders to call the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Kasdiy, to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. 3 And the king said to them: 'I have dreamed a dream, and my ruwach is troubled to know the dream.' 4 Then the Kasdiy spoke to the king in Aramiyth: 'O king, live for ever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation.' 5 The king answered and said to the Kasdiy: 'My decision is firm; if you make not known to me the dream and the interpretation of it, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. 6 But if you declare the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour; only declare to me the dream and its interpretation.' 7 They answered the second time and said: 'Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation.' 8 The king answered and said: 'I know of a truth that you would gain time, inasmuch as you see that my decision is firm, 9 that, if you make not known to me the dream, there is but one law for you; and you have agreed together to speak before me lying and corrupt words till the time be changed (I cease ruling); only tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can declare to me the interpretation.' 10 The Kasdiy answered the king, and said: 'There is not a man upon the earth that can declare the king's matter; forasmuch as no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Kesed. 11 And it is a hard thing that the king asks, and there is none that can declare it before the king, except the mighty one, whose dwelling is not with flesh.' 12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel. 13 So the decree went forth, and the wise men were to be slain; and they sought Dani'al and his companions to be slain.
2:14 Then with counsel and wisdom, Dani'al answered Aryowk the captain of the king's guard, who had gone out to slay the wise men of Babel; 15 he answered and said to Aryowk the king's captain: 'Why is the decree from the king so urgent?' Then Aryowk made the matter known to Dani'al. 16 Then Dani'al went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, so that he might declare to the king the interpretation.
2:17 Then Dani'al went to his house and made the matter known to ChananYahuw, Miysha'al, and AzaYahuw, his companions; 18 that they might ask mercy of the Aluah of the heavens concerning this secret so that Dani'al and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babel. 19 Then was the secret revealed to Dani'al in a vision of the night. Then Dani'al blessed the Aluah of the heavens. 20 Dani'al spoke and said: Blessed be the Name of Aluah from everlasting even to everlasting; for wisdom and might are His; 21 And He changes the times and the seasons;(years and haMoed/appointed feasts - zimnim) He removes kings, and sets up kings; He gives wisdom/insight to the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding; 22 He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the Light dwells with Him. 23 I thank You, and praise You, O Aluah of my fathers, Who has given me wisdom and might, and has now made known to me what we desired of You; for You have made known to us the king's matter. 24 Therefore Dani'al went in to Aryowk, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babel; he went and said to him: 'Destroy not the wise men of Babel; bring me in before the king, and I will declare to the king the interpretation.' 25 Then Aryowk brought in Dani'al before the king in haste, and said thus to him: 'I have found a man of the children of the captivity of Yauwdah, that will make known to the king the interpretation.' 26 The king spoke and said to Dani'al, whose name was Beltesha'tstsar: 'Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?' 27 Dani'al answered the king, and said: 'The secret which the king has asked can neither wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor astrologers, declare to the king; 28 but there is an Aluah in heaven that reveals secrets, and He has made known to the king Nebuwkadne'tstsar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head while upon your bed, are these: {'achariyth yowm}
2:29 As for you, O king, on your bed thoughts came [into your mind]: What is going to take place after this; and He that reveals secrets has made known to you what shall come to pass. 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom/insight that I have more than any one living, but to the intent that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart. 31 You, O king, saw, and behold a great image.
(Five Kingdoms) This image, which was mighty, and whose brightness was surpassing, stood before you; and the appearance of it was terrible. 32 As for that image, 1. its head was of fine gold, 2. its breast and its arms of silver (arms point to the two parts of Maday-Persia), 3. its belly and its thighs of brass, 33 4. its legs of iron (two legs point to K's of N & S - main divisions of Grecian empire of Chp. 11), 5. its feet part of iron and part of clay. 34 You were looking on until a Stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon its feet that were of iron and clay (5th and last kingdom), and broke them to pieces. 35 Then was the 1. iron, 2. the clay, 3. the brass, 4. the silver, and 5. the gold (5 things), broken in pieces together (they appear together in the last days of Rev. 13:2 as parts of the Dan. 7 beasts), and became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them; and the Stone that smote the image became a Great Mountain, and filled the whole earth. 36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation of it to the king. 37 You, O king, king of kings, to whom the Aluah of heaven has given the reign, the power, and the strength, and the esteem; 38 and wheresoever the children of men, the beasts of the field, and the fowls of the heaven dwell, He has given them into your hand, and has made you to rule over them all; (1st reign) you are the head of gold (the entire image is controlled by this head of gold - Babel - Rev. 17 &18). 39 (2nd reign) And after you shall arise another reign inferior to you; and another third reign of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. 40 And the fourth reign shall be strong as iron; forasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and beats down all things; and as iron that crushes, all these shall it break in pieces and crush. (the other kingdoms mentioned - as does the 4th beast of chp. 7 - thus making them concurrent.) 41 (5th reign) And whereas you saw the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, it will be a divided reign; but there shall be in it of the firmness of the iron, forasmuch as you sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so part of the reign shall be strong, and part of it broken. (the toes are separated from the feet and receive special notice - and are spoken of in a different order: feet (general ), feet and toes (specific), toes of the feet (very specific) 43 And as you saw the iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle (It is interesting that the words MINGLE and MIXED are translated from the same Aramaic word ARAB (Strong's 6151) themselves by the seed of men; but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron does not mingle with clay. 44 And in the days of those kings (the ten toes), shall the King of heaven set up a reign, which shall never be destroyed; nor shall the reign be left to another people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand le'olam wa'eyd. 45 Forasmuch as you saw a stone that was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces 1. the iron, 2. the brass, 3. the clay, 4. the silver, and 5. the gold; the great Aluah has made known to the king what shall come to pass after this; and the dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.' (named in a different order to emphasize that there are 5 kingdoms)
2:46 Then the king Nebuwkadne'tstsar fell upon his face, prostrate before Dani'al, and commanded that they should offer an offering and sweet odours to him. 47 The king spoke to Dani'al, and said: 'Of a truth it is, that your Aluah is the Aluah of Mighty Ones, and the Master of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing that you have been able to reveal this secret.' 48 Then the king made Dani'al great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him to rule over the whole province of Babel, and to be chief prefect over all the wise men of Babel. 49 And Dani'al requested of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babel; but Dani'al was in the gate of the king.
3:1 Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, (60) and the breadth thereof six cubits; he set it up in the plain of Duwra, in the province of Babel. 2 Then Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king sent to gather together the satraps (provincial governor), the prefects (chief officer), and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs [7 heads of power specified], and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king had set up. 3 Then the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs [7 specified], and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuwkadne'tstsar had set up.(Rev. 13:12) 4 And the herald cried aloud: 'To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, 5 that at when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, [ six instruments!] and all kinds of music, that you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king has set up; 6 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall that same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.' (type of Rev. 13:15 - image of the beast) 7 Therefore as soon as all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, trigon, psaltery, and all kinds of music, the peoples, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king had set up. 8 Wherefore at that time certain Kasdiy came near, and brought accusation against the Yahuwdim. 9 They spoke to Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king: 'O king, live for ever! 10 You, O king, have made a decree, that every man that hears the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, trigon, psaltery, and bagpipe [six instruments], and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image (which represented him); 11 and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. (Rev. 13:15) 12 There are certain Yahuwdim whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded you: they serve not your mighty ones, nor worship the golden image which you hast set up.' 13 Then Nebuwkadne'tstsar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then these men were brought before the king. 14 Nebuwkadne'tstsar spoke and said to them: 'Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, that you serve not my mighty ones, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15 Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, harp, trigon, psaltery, and bagpipe (6 instruments listed 3 times = 666), and all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship (Rev. 13:15), you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace (great tribulation - following the setting up of the abomination of desolation); and who is the mighty one that shall deliver you out of my hands?' 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king: 'O Nebuwkadne'tstsar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If our Aluah Whom we serve is able to deliver us, He will deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and out of your hand, O king -- He does deliver! 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your mighty ones, nor worship the golden image which you hast set up.' 19 Then Nebuwkadne'tstsar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; he commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times (last 7 years of earth time) hotter more than it was usual to be heated. 20 And he commanded certain mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21 Then these men were bound in their slippers, their tunics, and their robes, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that picked up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
3:24 Then Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste; he spoke and said to his ministers: 'Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?' They answered and said to the king: 'True, O king.' 25 He answered and said: 'Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the mighty ones.' 26 Then Nebuwkadne'tstsar came near to the gate of the burning fiery furnace; he spoke and said: 'Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, you servants of Aluah Most High, come out, and come here.' Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came out out of the midst of the fire. 27 And the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, and the king's ministers, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power upon their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their slippers changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.
Luke 21:16 You shall be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They shall cause some of you to be put to death. 21:17 You shall be hated by all for My Name’s sake. 21:18 And not a hair of your head shall perish. 21:19 “By your endurance you shall win your lives.
28 Nebuwkadne'tstsar spoke and said: 'Blessed be the Aluah of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, Who has sent His Messenger, and delivered His servants that trusted in Him, and have changed the king's word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any mighty one, except their own Aluah. 29 Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing wrong against the Aluah of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other mighty one that is able to deliver after this sort!' 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babel.
31 'Nebuwkadne'tstsar the king, to all peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; peace be multiplied to you. 32 It has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders that Aluah Most High has wrought toward me. 33 How great are His signs! and how mighty are His wonders! His reign is an everlasting reign, and His dominion is from generation to generation.
4:1 Nebuwkadne'tstsar the sovereign, to all peoples, nations and languages that dwell on the earth: Peace be increased to you. 2 I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High Aluah has worked for me. 3 How great are His signs, and how mighty His wonders! His reign is an everlasting reign, and his rulership is from generation to generation. 4 I, Nebuwkadne'tstsar was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace. 5 I saw a dream which made me afraid; and imaginings upon my bed and the visions of my head affrighted me. 6 Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babel before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. 7 Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Kasdiy, and the astrologers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation. 8 But at the last Dani'al came in before me, whose name was Beltesha'tstsar, according to the name of my mighty one, and in whom is the Ruwach of the Set-apart Aluah; and I told the dream to him: 9 O Beltesha'tstsar, master of the magicians, because I know that the Ruwach of the Set-apart Aluah is in you, and no secret causes you trouble, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation. 10 These were the visions of my head [while] upon my bed: I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great. 11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height of it reached to heaven, and the sight of it to the end of all the earth. 12 The leaves of it were fair, and the fruit of it was much, and in it was food for all; the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed by it. 13 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a Watcher and a Set-apart One came down from heaven. 14 He cried aloud, and said : Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit; let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches. 15 Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots (Babel) in the earth, even in a band of iron and brass (4th & 3rd kingdoms - Rome and Greece), in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth; 16 Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him. 17 The matter is by the decree of the Watchers, and the sentence by the word of the Set-apart Ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the reign of men, and gives it to whomsoever He will, and sets up over it the lowest of men. 18 This dream, I king Nebuwkadne'tstsar have seen; and you, O Beltesha'tstsar, declare the interpretation, since all the wise men of my reign are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able, for the Ruwach of the Set-apart Aluah is in you.' 19 Then Dani'al, whose name was Beltesha'tstsar, was appalled for a while, and his thoughts frightened him. The king spoke and said: 'Beltesha'tstsar, let not the dream, or the interpretation, frighten you.' Beltesha'tstsar answered and said: 'My master, the dream be to them that hate you, and the interpretation is to your adversaries. 20 The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the heaven, and the sight of it to all the earth; 21 whose leaves were fair, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation; 22 it is you, O king (by extension - Babel), you have grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to heaven, and your dominion to the end of the earth. 23 And whereas the king saw a Watcher and a Set-apart One coming down from heaven, and saying: Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots of it in the earth, even in a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; [we have been told twice that "Babel" will live on among YaHuWaH's people thru the influence of Greece and Rome?.] and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, (a small portion of the Ruwach - but not "rain") and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him-- 24 this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my master the king, 25 you shalt be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and you shalt be made to eat grass as oxen, and shalt be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you; till you know that the Most High rules in the reign of men, and gives it to whomsoever He will. 26 And whereas it was commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree, your reign shall be sure to you, after you shall learn that the heavens do rule. 27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by almsgiving, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.' 28 All this came upon the king Nebuwkadne'tstsar.
4:29 At the end of twelve months he was walking upon the royal palace of Babel. 30 The king spoke, and said: 'Is not this great Babel, which I have built for a royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the esteem of my majesty?' (a mouth speaking great things) 31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven: 'O king Nebuwkadne'tstsar, to you it is spoken: the reign is departed from you. 32 And you shalt be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; you shalt be made to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the reign of men, and gives it to whomsoever He will.' 33 In that same hour was the matter fulfilled upon Nebuwkadne'tstsar; and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair was grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws. 34 'And at the end of the days I, Nebuwkadne'tstsar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and esteemed Him that lives for ever; for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His reign from generation to generation; 35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and He does according to His will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand, or say to Him: What are You doing ? 36 At the same time that my understanding returned to me; so did the esteem of my reign, my majesty and my splendour returned to me; and my ministers and my counselors sought to me; and I was established in my reign, and surpassing greatness was added to me. 37 Now I Nebuwkadne'tstsar praise and extol and esteem the King of heaven; for all His works are truth, and His ways justice; and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.'
5:1 Belsha'tstsar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his counselors, and drank wine before the thousand. 2 Belsha'tstsar, while tasting the wine, gave orders to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuwkadne'tstsar his father had taken out of the Hekal which was in Yahrushalom so that the king and his counselors, his consorts and his concubines, might drink from them. 3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the Hekal of the House of Aluah which was at Yahrushalom; and the king, and his counselors, his consorts and his concubines, drank from them. 4 They drank wine and praised the mighty ones of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. (6 things) 5 In the same hour there came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote opposite the lampstand/Menorah on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace; and the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king's colour was changed in him, and his thoughts frightened him; and the joints of his hips were loosed, and his knees knocked one against another. 7 The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Kasdiy, and the astrologers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babel: 'Whosoever shall read this writing, and declare to me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall rule as one of three in the reign.' 8 Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation. 9 Then was king Belsha'tstsar greatly frightened, and his countenance was changed in him, and his counselors were perplexed. 10 Now the queen because of the words of the king and his counselors came into the banquet house and said: 'O king, live for ever! let not your thoughts frighten you, nor let your countenance be changed; 11 there is a man in your reign, in whom is the Ruwach of the Set-apart Ones; and in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the mighty ones, was found in him; and king Nebuwkadne'tstsar your father made him master of the magicians, enchanters, Kasdiy, and astrologers; 12 because an excellent ruwach, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and declaring of riddles, and dissolving doubts, were in Dani'al, whom the king named Beltesha'tstsar. Now let Dani'al be called, and he will declare the interpretation.'
5:13 Then was Dani'al brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Dani'al: 'Are you Dani'al, who is of the children of the captivity of Yauwdah, whom the king my father brought out of Yauwdah? 14 I have heard that the ruwach of the mighty ones is in you, and that light and understanding and surpassing wisdom is in you. 15 And now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known to me its interpretation; but they could not declare the interpretation of the matter. 16 But I have heard that you can give interpretations, and dissolve doubts; now if you can read the writing, and make known to me its interpretation, you shalt be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about your neck, and shalt rule as one of three in the reign.'
5:17 Then Dani'al answered the king: 'Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation. 18 O king, the Most High Aluah gave Nebuwkadne'tstsar your father the reign, and greatness, and esteem, and majesty; 19 and because of the greatness that He gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down. 20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his ruwach was hardened that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and his esteem was taken from him; 21 and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High Aluah rules in the reign of men, and that He sets up over it whomsoever He will. 22 And you his son, O Belsha'tstsar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this; 23 but have lifted up yourself against the Master of heaven; and have brought the vessels of His House before you, and you and your counselors, your consorts and your concubines, have drunk wine in them; and you have praised the mighty ones of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone (6 things), which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the Aluah in Whose Hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, you have not esteemed; 24 then was the palm of the hand sent from Him, and this writing was inscribed. 25 And this is the writing that was inscribed:
mnd mnd lqt nysdpw
MENE MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.
[measure -measure-weighed-and divided]
26 This is the interpretation of the matter: MENE, Aluah has numbered your reign, and brought it to an end. 27 TEKEL, You are weighed in the balances (Rev. 6:5-6 - 3rd seal), and are found wanting. 28 PERES, your reign is divided, and given to the Maday and Paras.' 29 Then Belsha'tstsar ordered that they clothed Dani'al with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should rule as one of three in the reign. 30 In that night Belsha'tstsar the Kasidy king was slain.
31 And Dar'yawesh the Maday received the reign, being about threescore and two years old.
6:1 It pleased Dar'yawesh to set over the reign a hundred and twenty satraps, who should be throughout the whole reign; 2 and over them three presidents, of whom Dani'al was one; that these satraps might give account to them, and that the king should have no damage. 2 Then Dani'al distinguished himself above the presidents and the satraps, because a surpassing ruwach was in him; and the king sought to set him over the whole realm. 4 Then the presidents and the satraps sought to find occasion against Dani'al regarding the reign; but they could find no occasion nor fault; as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then these men said: 'We shall not find any occasion against Dani'al, except we find it against him in the matter of the Law of his Aluah.' 6 Then these presidents and satraps went before the king [in conspiracy], and said to him: 'king Dar'yawesh, live for ever! 7 All the presidents of the reign, the prefects and the satraps, the ministers and the governors, have consulted together that the king should establish a statute, and make a strong interdict, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any mighty one or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it not be changed, according to the law of the Maday and Paras, which does not pass away.' 9 So king Dar'yawesh signed the writing and the interdict. 10 And when Dani'al knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house--now his windows were open in his upper chamber toward Yahrushalom--and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his Aluah, as he had done before. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Dani'al making petition and supplication before his Aluah. 12 Then they came and spoke before the king concerning the king's interdict: 'Have you not signed an interdict, that no man that shall make petition to any mighty one or man within thirty days except to you, O king, and he who does shall be cast into the den of lions?' The king answered and said: 'The matter is true, according to the law of the Maday and Paras, which does not pass away.' 13 Then they answered and said to the king: 'That Dani'al, who is of the children of the captivity of Yauwdah, pays no heed to you, O king, nor to the interdict that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.' 14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased with himself, and set his heart on delivering Dani'al; and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him. 15 Then these men came before the king, and said to the king: 'Know, O king, that it is a law of the Maday and Paras, that no interdict nor statute which the king establishes may be changed.' 16 Then the king orderd that they should bring Dani'al and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Dani'al: 'Your Aluah Whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.' 17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his counselors; that nothing might be changed concerning Dani'al. (Type of Rev. 7:2-8) 18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; neither were diversions brought before him; and his sleep fled from him. 19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came near to the den, he cried with a pained voice to Dani'al: 'O Dani'al, servant of the living Aluah, is your Aluah, Whom you serve continually been able to deliver you from the lions?' 21 Then said Dani'al to the king: 'O king, live for ever! 22 My Aluah has sent His Messenger, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me; for I was found innocent before Him; and also before you, O king, have I done no hurt.' 23 Then the king was very happy, and commanded that they should take Dani'al up out of the den. So Dani'al was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in Aluah. 24 And the king gave orders and they brought those men who had accused Dani'al, and they threw them, their children, and their wives into the den of lions. And they did not reach the bottom of the den, before the lions had the mastery of them, and broke all their bones in pieces. 25 Then king Dar'yawesh wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: 'Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my reign men tremble and fear before the Aluah of Dani'al; for He is the living Aluah, and stedfast for ever, and His reign is that which shall not be destroyed, and His rule shall be to the end; 27 He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth; and He has delivered Dani'al from the power of the lions.' 28 So Dani'al prospered in the reign of Dar'yawesh, and in the reign of Kowresh the Parsay.
[Daniy'al 7 - 12 are Synchronous -- they all refer to the "time of the end" - "the end"- the "last week of time of Dan. 9 27. The extra 30, 45, and 75 days pictured in various texts should be understood in the context of Tehillim 20, 30, 45 and 75…. see also YashaYahuw 54:5-8;62:4, 5; YirmeYahuw 3:14]
7:1 In the first year of Belsha'tstsar king of Babel Dani'al had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed; then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters. 2 Dani'al spoke and said: I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven rushed forth upon the Yama Raba (Mediterranean Sea - thus, this is the area from which these beast/kingdoms must come!). 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings; I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the earth, and she stood on the feet of men, and a man's heart was given to it. (we are told that man's heart is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things) [Nothing negative or positive is said about this beast - it seems to just exist] 5 And behold another beast, a second, that looked like a bear, and it was lying on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told to get up and eat a lot of flesh.'
[And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus to it, Arise, devour much flesh.][It did not devour much flesh on its own but was ordered to devour much flesh by "they".]AKJ 6 Then {Look!} I saw another wild animal that looked like a leopard, but it had four wings like those of a bird on her back, and four heads; and dominion was given to it. (first the body of the leopard - then the wings are added - then the four heads appear)
7 In its tracks, as I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible and very large. It had great iron teeth that were strong for eating and crushing, and it trampled others with its feet; and it was very different from all the beasts that came before it; and it had ten horns. 8 Then as I was watching the horns, and, behold, there came up (arose) among them another horn, a little one, (11 horns for a time) and the three of the first horns were pulled up by the roots/eradicated from before it. [leaving 7 + himself = 8 - Rev. 17:11 Even the Beast (from the bottomless pit) that was, and is not, is also an eighth head, and is of the seven, and he goes to annihilation. ]. And, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man (1st beast of Rev. 13), and it had a mouth saying very great things (2nd beast of Rev. 13). [the "little horn" is the 1st Beast of Rev. 13]. 9 I beheld till thrones were placed, and One that was Ancient of Days did sit: His raiment was as white snow, and the hair of His head like pure wool; His throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him; thousand thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him; Dina was seated, and books were opened. 11 I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke (2nd beast of Rev. 13), I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire;
“And I beheld the fourth beast, wicked and powerful, and more savage than all the beasts of the earth, and how from it sprang up ten horns, and out of them a little budding horn, and how it subdued under one, three of the great horns.” Letter of Barnabus
(the whole beast is slain because of what the horn was saying and cast into lake of fire at judgement time) [Rev. 20:11 I saw a great white throne, and the One Who sits on it, from Whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them. 20:12 I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne [of YaHuWaH], and they opened books. ] (Verses 11-12 of Rev. 20, are the only match of Dan. 7:9-10 in the Scriptures)
[Rev. 19:19 I saw the Beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against the One Who sat on the horse, and against His army. 19:20 The Beast (the "little horn" of the 4th beast of Dan.7) was taken, and with him the Preacher of the Lie (the "mouth" that spoke great things) who worked the signs in his sight, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 19:21 The rest were killed with the sword of Him Who sat on the horse, the sword which came forth out of His mouth. All the birds were filled with their flesh.]
(None of these beasts are identified! … and we must be careful and not "assume" them being what we have been "programmed" to believe.)
12 And as for the rest of the other animals, their dominion/sovereignty was taken away; yet their lives were extended for a season and a time.
(a feast season + a year) from the context it appears that all of these beast are on the "scene" at the same time ... Bereshiyth 8:14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. (The "flood" of destruction was on the earth for 370 days while YaHuWaH's people (Noah and family) were safe in His ark.) [This was 370 days after the flood began, or one year and ten days, at that time—the same length as the interval between one Feast of Trumpets until Yom Kippur the following year.] - the length of the "Great Day of YaHuWaH" - the "indignation" - "the wrath of YaHuWaH and the Lamb" ... thus these beast have to pass thru the Great Day of YaHuWaH!)
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven, One like Bar Enash, and He came even to the Ancient of Days, and He was brought near before Him. 14 And there was given Him rulership, and splendor, and a reign, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him; His rule is an everlasting rule, which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. [Son of Enash .... This Aramiyth term indicates these to be the same One!]
MatithYahuw 26:64 YaHuWSHuWaH said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you shall see the Son of Adam sitting at the right hand of the Power of YaHuWaH, and coming upon the clouds of the sky.” Daniy'el 7: 13] [Tehillim 110:5 - YaHuWaH at your right hand.]
15 As for me Dani'al, my ruwach was pained in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head affrighted me. 16 I came near to one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things: 17 'These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth/land. [verse 2-3: the four winds of the heaven broke forth upon the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.]18 But the set-apart ones of the Alyonin shall receive the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom through the Ages and into the Ages of Ages'! [all these beast are unclean animals]
19 Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was so different from all of them (same thing said about the little horn - and he shall be diverse [different] from the former [the other kings], and he shall put down three kings), exceeding terrible, whose teeth were of iron, (legs of iron?) and its nails of brass; (belly and thighs of brass?) which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet; 20 and concerning the ten horns (ten toes?) that were on its head, and the other horn which came up (11 for a time), and before which three fell (10 - 3 = 7 +1 [himself] .... leaving 8); even that horn that had eyes (insight), and a mouth (spokesman) that spoke great things, (YashaYahuw 10:12)…. Rev. 13:5 And he (1st beast) was given a mouth (spokesman) (mouth of a lion - Babel) speaking great things .... Then the 1st beast is given a MOUTH (a spokesperson) ( Notice how Moshah said he was slow of speech and Father said to him, "Aharon will be as a mouth and also as a Prophet to you.) This relates how the mouth that is given to the 1st beast is the actually the False Prophet namely the 2nd beast which is verified later in the same chapter of Rev. (Dewey Burton) It also should be noted that it was this "mouth and prophet" of Moshah who made a golden calf image which he told all Ysra'al was the Aluahiym that brought them out of Mitsrayim --- at their insistence. !!
whose look was more stout than that of its fellows [the other horns who came from the same beast - YashaYahuw 10:12 - "I shall punish the fruit of the stout heart of Ashshuwr and the insolence of his haughty looks.]. 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the set-apart ones, and prevailed against them; (Rev. 13 - first beast) 22 until Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to set-apart ones of Alyonin; and the time came, and the set-apart ones possessed the Kingdom. (these two events are tied closely together) 23 Thus he said: 'The fourth beast shall be a fourth reign upon earth, which shall be diverse/different from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 24 And as for the ten horns, out of this reign shall ten kings arise; and another shall arise after them (the beast of Rev. 13 will arise after the 10 kings come upon the scene); and he shall be diverse [different] from the former [the other kings], and he shall humble/uproot/subdue three of them. [It may be that this is in progress even now --- Iraq was the first, then will come Damascus (taken way from being a city - Syria), then Iran-- Dan. 8:5 - a nuclear attack… not necessarily in the this order.]
[leaving 7 + himself = 8 - Rev. 17:11 Even the Beast (from the bottomless pit) that was [Rev. 13:1-2], and is not [Rev. 13:3), is also an eighth head [Rev. 13:4-8], and is of the seven, and he goes to annihilation. ].
25 And it (the horn) shall speak words against Alai'a, and shall wear out the set-apart ones of Alyonin; and it shall think to change the Zimnim (Appointed Occasions/times) and laws* ; and they shall be given into its hand for a time and times and half a time.
[the Appointed Occasions = 7 festivals of Lev. 23. *The word "law" is not Torah but one meaning "royal decrees - that which a king allows or does not allow…. the "firm covenant" of Dan. 9:27? - it fits]
(This horn knows well that it has but 42 moons - 1260 days - to rule. He also knows that his end will come on an "Appointed Occasion" - Yom Kippur, and since in "his heart" he thinks of himself as eternal and all powerful - he will think to change these very Occasions that point to his destruction - and he will also "think" that these "times" can be overturned by him ..… and during his reign these "appointments" will no longer be allowed or mentioned. We are told in Dan. 2:21 And He (Yahuwah) changes the times and the seasons;(years and haMoed/appointed feasts - zimnim) and since haSatan has said in his heart that "I will be like the Most High" then it is only logical that he also in the person of this "horn" will want to change the "times and seasons" for his benefit.)
26 But the judgment shall sit [vs 9-11, 18, 22, 26-27], and its dominion shall be taken away, to be consumed and to be destroyed to the end. [thus, this horn must be present in the end times!]
27 And the Kingdom and Sovereignty, and the greatness of the kingdoms under all heaven, shall be given to the people - the set-apart ones of Alyonin; His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.' 28 Here is the end of the matter. As for me Dani'al, my thoughts much affrighted me, and my countenance was changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.
Chapters 8-12 were written in Ibriy and cannot be divided - it is all one vision.
The "time period" of the vision:
vs. 17: Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.
vs. 19 a: I will make you know what shall be in the last end of the indignation.
vs. 19b : for at the time appointed the end shall be.
…. all of these statements are very direct and clear --- Gabriel does not say that "part" of the vision is for the end and "part" not for the end - and man has no right to divide them as such.
8:1 In the third year of the reign of king Belsha'tstsar a vision appeared to me, even to me Dani'al, after what appeared to me at first. (Dan. 7 - first year of his reign) 2 And I saw in the vision; now it was so, that when I saw, I was in Shuwshan (presently in Iran near border with Iraq) the castle, which is in the province of Eylam; and I saw in the vision, and I was by the canal Uwlay. (Basra near Iraq/Iran border) 3 And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the stream [Uwlay] a ram which had two long horns (Maday/Paras - Iraq - Iran?); and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and came up behind it. 4 I saw the ram pushing [from the Ulai region] westward [Jordan/Palestine/Israel], and northward [Iran], and southward [Saudi Arabia]; and none of the other beasts/animals [what beasts? (continuation of Dan. 7?) -- none named?] could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became powerful.
5 And as I was watching, behold, a he-goat (USA) came from the west over the face/surface of the whole earth, and touched not the ground; and the goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes. (Gulf wars or future conflicts ?)
[As I was considering, behold, a male goat invaded from the west over the surface of the whole earth, and didn’t touch the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.] --- sea and air war?
5. And as I was considering [this], lo and behold, [one] of the young goats came from the west, over the whole surface of the earth, but it was not touching the ground, and [this] young [one] had a conspicuous horn between its eyes. SFY …. "not touching the ground" means just what it says - it does not refer to "its speed" as commonly taught. This vision is for the "end times" the times of missiles, aircraft, and navies - and it needs to be viewed as such.
6 And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the canal [Uwlay], and ran at him in the fury of his power. 7 And I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and smote the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. 8 And the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly; and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of it there came up the appearance of four horns toward the four winds of heaven. [the four beast of Dan. 7? -- the four horns of ZekarYahuw -- the Quartet of UN, EU, USA, Russian ?]
[Dan. 7:2 Dani'al spoke and said: I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of Shemayah rushed forth upon the Yama Raba]
Berishiyth 10:4 The sons of Yawan: Eliyshah, Tarshiysh, Kittiy, and Dodaniym. 10:5 Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.
Bemidbar 24:23 He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when Aluah does this? 24:24 But ships shall come from the coast of Kittiy. They shall subdue Asshshuwr, subdue Eber. But they too [Kittiy]]will come to destruction.” [The people from the islands will gather from the North (Masoretic)]
ZekarYahuw 1:18 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four horns. 1:19 I asked the messenger who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Yahuwdah, Ysra'al, and Yahrushalom.” 1:20 YaHuWaH showed me four craftsmen. 1:21 Then I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns which scattered Yahuwdah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Yahuwdah to scatter it.” … the "craftsmen" are busy in the world today doing their "terrifying" - and with great success!
9 And out of one of them [horns or winds? - the antecedent points to winds ?] came forth a little horn - an insignificant one - (Kittiy?), which became very great, toward the south, and toward the sunrise, and toward the bountiful land (the Beautiful One).
[he comes out of the north - where YaHuWaH's prophesied judgments are said to come]
Bemidbar 24:23 He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when Aluahiym does this? 24:24 But ships shall come from the coast of Kittiy. They shall subdue Asshuwr, subdue Eber. But they too [Kittiy] will come to destruction.” [The people from the islands will gather from the North (Masoretic)]
10 And it became great, even to the host/army of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the earth and trampled on them. 11 Yea, it magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; ["I shall be like the Most High"] and from Him the continual was taken away, and the foundation of His Set-apart Place was cast down. 12 And because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose that which is continual; and it threw truth to the ground, and it acted and prospered. [war in heaven - Rev 12 ?] 13 Then I heard a qodesh one speaking; and another qodesh one said to the one who spoke: 'Till when (for how long) is the the vision concerning that which is continual, and the transgression that lays waste,
[ Dan. 12:11 And from the time that the continual shall be taken away, and the abomination that lays waste set up (Chp. 8:9-12), there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days…. Dan. 12: 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river: 'How long shall it be to the end of the wonders?' 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, and he lifted up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of scattering the power of the Set-apart people, all these things shall be finished.[the time, times and a half are the same as mentioned in Rev. 12:14 - the 2nd fleeing] ]
to make both the Set-apart Place and the host to be trampled under foot?' 14 And he said to me: 'For two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings (6.39 yrs.) then that which is Set-apart shall be made right.' (How long will it take for the vision to be made manifest - the vision concerning the daily slaughters and the transgression that causes desolation with the abandonment of the Set-apart Place and the army that will trample it underfoot?" He said to me: "It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings until the place that was previously Set-Apart may be restored." (Matara - Aramaic)
Then I heard a qodesh one speaking, and another qodesh on said to him, "How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled -- the vision concerning the continual burnt offering and the rebellion that causes desolation, and the surrender of the set-apart place and of the host that will be trampled underfoot?" -- NIV
Then I heard a qodesh one speaking, and another qodesh one said to the one who spoke, "For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the set-apart place and host to be trampled underfoot?" ESV
And I heard a qodesh one speaking; and a certain qodesh one said to the wonderful numberer who is speaking: Till when is the vision of the continual sacrifice, and the transgression, an astonishment, to make both the set-apart place and host a treading down? YLT
Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks are decreed [chathak/cut off] upon your people and upon your kodesh city, 1. to put an end to the transgression, 2. and to make and end of sins, 3. and to cover crookedness, 4. and to bring in everlasting righteousness, 5. & 6. and to seal vision and prophet, 7. * and to anoint the Most Set-apart (make it right). (none of these 7 "goals" have been fulfilled --- all are future --- not truly fulfilled until Millennial times and the new Hekal of Yehezqel ??)
[Numbers 28:1 And YaHuWaH spake unto Moshah, saying, 2: Command the children of Ysra'al, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my offerings made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall you observe to offer unto me in their due season. 3: And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer unto the Aluahiym; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. 4: The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;]
Literal reading of verse 14: …" Until when the vision, the daily and the transgression desolating, to give both the set-apart place and the host to be trampled?" Answer: "evenings and mornings 2300" - this particular terminology is seen only in the creation account of "there was evening and there was morning, one day", etc. - which would make these 2300 literal days.
15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Dani'al, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard the voice of a man between the banks of Uwlay, who called, and said: 'Gabri'al, make this man to understand the vision.' 17 So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was terrified, and fell upon my face; but he said to me: 'Understand, O son of man; for this is a vision of the time of the end.' 18 Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright.
19 And he said: 'Look, I am making known to you what will take place in the latter time of the wrath/indignation (end time of the rage) [Great Day of YaHuWaH]; for at the appointed time shall be the end. (for at Mo'ed - the end! = one of the feast days. ...Yom Kippur)
1 Kepha 1:4 … into an inherited possession that is not liable to decay [Matt. 6:19], unsoiled, and unfading, having been kept under guard for you in heavenly realms 1:5 who by the Power of YaHuWaH are guarded through belief for a rescue already prepared to be revealed in the final decisive epoch. "...... for a rescue ready to be disclosed during a latter feast season! [Yowm Kippur, Deuteronomy 32: 42] ]
[The Great and Terrible Day of YaHuWaH will come on a Yowm Kippur, a 10th day of the 7th (Hebrew) month, which is the latter feast season of the True calendar. [Day of Atonement]
YaHuWSHuWaH will suddenly come to His temple (Mal. 3: 1) seal His servants (Ychezqel 9: 3-4) at the 6th Seal - Great and Terrible Day of YaHuWaH (Disclosure 6: 12 – 7: 8; Yahuw’al 2: 31-32)]
(From the 7th Trumpet - (the resurrection of the righteous) - to Atonement (the gathering of the living) is 10 days - ie, from the resurrection at the last trump (of the seven and the "last one" of the feasts - 1st day of the 7th month) to His appearing to gather the living who are on the verge of being destroyed! ) Note these texts: YashaYahuw 27:12 It shall happen in That Day, that YaHuWaH shall thresh from the flowing stream of the River to the brook of Mitsrayim; and you shall be gathered one by one, children of Ysra'al. 27:13 It shall happen in That Day that a Great Shofar shall be blown (Day of Atonement); and those who were ready to perish in the land of Ashshuwr, and those who were outcasts in the land of Mitsrayim, shall come; and they shall worship YaHuWaH in the qodesh Mountain at Yahrushalom. (gathering of the living Set-apart ones )- and Matt. 24:31, Mark 13:27 He shall send out His Messengers with the sound of the Great Shofar [ Day of Atonement,] and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four wind, from one end of the sky to the other. [this is the gathering of His living ones - the dead were raised 10 days earlier at Yom Teruach. (Note * 24:31: The Great Shofar is blown on Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement), and is representative of - and is blown in the introduction of the Jubilee Year. - the dead are raised 10 days earlier at the" " last trumpet" - "Day of Trumpets". --- there are two different trumpets blown during the feasts. The first "trump" is blown on Shabuot and is termed the "first trump" and the next trump is blown on Yom Teruach {day of trumpets} and is called the "last trump".... and from the Scriptural references it appears that the 7th trump of Rev. will coincide with the "last" feast trump, and will be the resurrection of YaHuWSHuWaH's people. This 10 day time span is what is referred to in the message to the assembly of Smurna in Rev. 2:10. "Don’t be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the slanderer is about to throw some of you into prison, that you might be tried; and you shall have oppression for ten days. "
20 The ram which you saw having the two horns, they are the kings of Maday and Paras. 21 And the rough he-goat is king of Yawan; and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. 22 And as for that which was broken, in the place where four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power. 23 And in the latter time of their rule, when the transgressors have filled up their measure, there shall stand up a sovereign, fierce of face, and an expert in dark sayings/intrigue/politics. [The rise of anti-Mashiach will be deceptive, the result of an intelligence operation at the highest levels. The anti-Mashiach causes " craft " to prosper. "Craft" in Strong's Concordance is word # 4820 and means "fraud, deceit, and treachery." He also shall " understand dark sentences " - Danial 8:23.
Interestingly enough, the Strong's Concordance word for "dark" AND "sentences" is the SAME word, # 2420. They mean "trick" saying. Hence, since the word is used twice, the "trick" is to give out double meanings in the same phrase. The essence of an intelligence operation is misleading information (dual information). The anti-Mashiach (DURING HIS RISE) understands " dark sentences ." He has been (and will be) involved in intelligence operations in the "war on terror." An example of a dual meaning - "peace process" really translates into "war", and (for some) "war on terror" means "war on Islam."]
Antiochus Epiphanes, a "type" of the anti-Mashiach, " [spoke] lies at a table. " No doubt, the eventual anti-Mashiach will also.
ZekarYahuw 1:18 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four horns. 1:19 I asked the messenger who talked with me, “What are these?”
He answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Yahuwdah, Ysra'al, and Yahrushalom.”
1:20 YaHuWaH showed me four craftsmen. 1:21 Then I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns which scattered Yahuwdah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Yahuwdah to scatter it.”
[Bereshiyth 10:2 The sons of Yepheth: Gomer, Magowg, Maday, Yawan, Tuwbal, Meshek, and Tiyreya. 10:3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riyphath, and Towgarmah. 10:4 The sons of Yawan: Aliyshah, Tarshiysh, Kittiy, and Dodaniym. 10:5 Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.]
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power, and he shall cause astounding devastation, and shall succeed in whatever he does. He shall destroy mighty men (nations and leaders by war and conquest) and the set-apart people. 25 And through his cunning he shall cause craft (fraud, deceit and treachery) to prosper in his hand; and in his heart he shall think of himself as extremely important, and by peace he will destroy many (without warning), and he will even stand up against the Prince of princes - yet he shall be destroyed, but not by human power. (at the coming of Yahuwshuwah)
YashaYahuw 10:12 Therefore it shall happen that, when YaHuWaH has performed His whole work on Mount Tsiyown and on Yahrushalom, I shall punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Ashshuwr (Successful One), and the insolence of his haughty looks. [Dâniy'el 7: 8, 20] 10:13 For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding: and I have removed the [international] boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a Valiant One! I have brought down their rulers. 10:14 My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, have I gathered all the earth. [Dan. 11:40-45/Rev. 13] There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”
26 And the vision of the [2300] evenings and mornings which has been told is true; but you shut up the vision; for it belongs to many days to come.' 27 And I Dani'al fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was appalled at the vision, but no one else knew about it.
9:1 In the first year of Dar'yawesh the son of Achashwerowsh, of the linage of the Maday, who was made king over the realm of the Kasdiy; 2 in the first year of his reign, I Dani'al observed from the Scriptures the number of the years according the Word of YaHuWaH given to YirmeYahuw the prophet, that He would accomplish for the desolations of Yahrushalom would be seventy years. 3 And I set my face to YaHuWaH Aluah, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes. 4 And I prayed to YaHuWaH my Aluah, and made confession, and said: 'O YaHuWaH, the Great and Awesome Aluah, Who keeps Covenant and mercy with them that love You and keep Your Commandments, 5 we have sinned, and have dealt iniquitously, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, and have turned aside from Your Commandments and from Your ordinances; 6 neither have we hearkened to Your servants the prophets, that spoke in Your Name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the Land. 7 Unto You, O Aluah, belongs righteousness, but to us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Yahuwdah, and to the inhabitants of Yahrushalom, and to all Ysra'al, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries where You have driven them, because they dealt treacherously with You. 8 O YaHuWaH, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You. 9 To YaHuWaH our Aluah belong compassions and mercy; for we have rebelled against Him; 10 neither have we listened to the Voice of the YaHuWaH our Aluah, to walk in His Torot, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. 11 Yea, all Ysra'al have transgressed Your Torah, and have turned aside, so as not to hearken to Your Voice; and so there has been poured out upon us the curse (Allah) and the oath that is written in the Torah of Moshah the servant of Aluah; for we have sinned against Him. 12 And He has confirmed His Word, which He spoke against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; so that under the whole heaven has not been done as has been done upon Yahrushalom. 13 As it is written in the Torah of Moshah, all this evil is come upon us; yet have we not entreated the favour of the YaHuWaH our Aluah, that we might turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in Your Truth. 14 And so YaHuWaH has watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for YaHuWaH our Aluah is righteous in all His works which He has done, and we have not listened to His Voice. 15 And now, O YaHuWaH our Aluah, that have brought Your people forth out of the land of Mitsrayim with a mighty Hand, and has gotten You renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 16 O YaHuWaH, according to all Your righteousness, let Your anger and Your fury, I pray You, be turned away from Your city Yahrushalom, Your kodesh Mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Yahrushalom and Your people have become a reproach to all that are about us. 17 Now therefore, O YaHuWaH hearken to the prayer of Your servant, and to his supplications, and cause Your face to shine upon Your Set-apart Place that is desolate, for Aluahiym's sake. 18 O my Aluah, incline Your ear, and hear; open Your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city upon which Your Name is called; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteousness, but because of Your great compassions. 19 O YaHuWaH, hear, O YaHuWaH, pardon, O YaHuWaH, listen and act! Do not delay for Your Own sake, O my Aluah, for Your city and Your people are called by Your Name.' 20 And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Ysra'al, and presenting my supplication before YaHuWaH my Aluah for the Set-apart Mountain of my Aluah; 21 yet, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabri'al, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, approached close to me about the time of the evening offering. 22 And he made me to understand, and talked with me, and said: 'O Dani'al, I am now come to make you skillful of understanding. 23 At the beginning of your supplications a word went forth, and I am come to declare it; for you are greatly appreciated; therefore consider the message, and understand the vision. * [The 370 day long "Great Day of YaHuWaH" reaches from the next to the last Feast of Trumpets to Yom Kippur a year later - when the living set-
apart ones will be rescued by Yahuwshua - fulfilling the prophecies of Rev. 2:10 and those of YashaYahuw 11:12; 27:12-13; Matt. 24:31 and numerous
others. This Day is spoken about in YashaYahuw 34:8; 61:2; 63:4 as "Day of Vengeance" and " Year of Recompense" also in 32:10.
Yahuwshua's Feet will part the Mount of Olives as He comes with all the resurrected set-apart ones - this will be the last 370 days of earth-time
before the Wedding Feast of Sukkot which follows a few days later. Then comes the "blessed" 1335 th day in which Danial was told he would be given
his "lot and place" - the beginning of the Millennial Reign of Yahuwshua! Oh Yes !
Concerning the 1335 Days: If Yom Teruah is the resurrection of the Set-apart ones then 22 days after Yom Teruah would bring us to "The Last
Great Day" immediately after Sukkot (the Marriage Feast) and the beginning of the Millennial Day.Ten days after Teruah is Yom Kippur the time of
deliverance for those spoken about in YashaYahuw 27:12-13. Thus the 1335 th day is in Millennial Times.
The wording of Dan. 12:12 implies that would be given his "lot" in the Land at the end of those days …. and this would be in Millennial time as
it should be. [As it is written concerning the Millennial Kingdom in Yehezq’el 47:2 "Thus you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the
tribes of Ysra'al. Yehezq'el 47:22 It shall be that you will divide it by lot as an inheritance for yourselves".]
Notes:
Concerning the 1290 days (the extra 30 days):
Dan. 9:27 states that in the midst of the week the offerings will cease and the abomination of desolation set-up. Same terminology used in
Dan. 8:11-14 and 12:11. According to the time elements present in Dan. 7:25 & 12:7 and Rev. 12 & 13 concerning the beast power and the
fleeing of the woman - these time frames are certain and not in anyway extended. Thus the extra 30 days of Dan. 12:11 must come in the
"midst of the week" when the abomination of desolation is set-up - not added to the end of the 1260 days. According to the Scriptures,
the beast must receive his deadly wound - be resurrected - have an image erected to him - bring the "continual" to and end - enthrone
himself in the temple area ….. all of this will take some time. The types for all of this is seen in Danial concerning the setting up of the
image and the "fiery furnace", the "lions den" - all of these took time as will the setting up of the abomination of desolation. Note:
Antiochus IV's army desecrated the Temple and stopped the daily slaughters. On the 15th of Kislev, in December 168 BCE, the Syrians
built a pagan altar over the altar of burnt offering in the Temple and placed an image of Zeus Olympius upon it. Ten days later, on the
25th of Kislev, swine's flesh was offered on the altar to Zeus. This is a type of the events that will take place in the "midst" of the week
where the extra 30 days are added - the continual stopped and the abomination of desolation is set-up. (see Dan. 9:26)
The 2300 days:
If the prophecies are one in their identification of the setting up of the abomination of desolation - then the 2300 evenings and mornings
must begin in the midst of the week and would extend into the millennium some 965 days - if they are a literal 2300 days - If they are 2300
evening and morning offerings or 1150 days - then they fail to reach the end of the 1260-1290 days by some 80-110 days …. which cannot
be explained according to the set apart times. There is no evidence that they were fulfilled during the days of Antiochus IV. Therefore,
the 2300 days are not pictured here, - not knowing how they should be pictured. (Insight will be welcomed!)
24 Seventy weeks are decreed [chathak/cut off] upon your people and upon your kodesh city, 1. to put an end to the transgression, 2. and to make and end of sins, 3. and to cover crookedness, 4. and to bring in everlasting righteousness, 5. & 6. and to seal vision and prophet, 7. and to anoint the Most Set-apart. (none of these 7 "goals" have been fulfilled - but will be in the Millennium - thus some of these days must reach into that time as does the 1335 days when Danial is given his "lot".) 25 [event 1] Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the word to restore/return (shub) and to build Yahrushalom until the Mashiyach the Prince, shall be seven weeks; and threescore and two weeks, and it shall be built again, with broad place and moat, but in troublous times. 26a And after the threescore and two weeks shall Mashiyach be cut off/covenanted, and have nothing; 26 b and the people of a coming prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the Set-apart Place; and the end of it is with a flood [like the deluge]; and wastes are decreed, and desolations are determined.
27a And he shall confirm the covenant with the many one seven; and in the middle of the seven he shall cause the slaughters and the grain offering to cease; 27b and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate; even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed/determined is poured out on the one who lays waste.' (or makes desolate - the abomination of desolation)
[w’hig’bir b’rith larabim shabu`a ‘echad wachatsi hashabu`a yash’bith zebach umin’chah w’`al k’naph shiqutsim m’shomem w’`ad-kalah w’necheratsah titak `al-shomem.]
{And he "shall cause the covenant/agreement to be strong" with many one seven; and in the middle of the seven he shall cause the slaughters and grain offering to cease; }
He shall Confirm (confirm what?) The covenant (which covenant?)
The covenant with Many.
1. To "Confirm something" (anything at all, whether it is an agreement, document, covenant or whatever) should NOT be perceived as introducing something new. To "Confirm" something (Gabar) actually references one who endorses or gives strength to something that already exists.
2. The word " Many " should NOT be interpreted as a noun (persons, groups, or even nations) as in MANY confirms his covenant……. It's the other way around…..."Many" (Rab) is an adjective that describes or identifies which Covenant that he will confirm.
In other words, he shall confirm ( endorse or strengthen ) the covenant ( an existing alliance or agreement - confederacy ), one previously adopted by or with many.....
(Daniel's Timeline)
The first two Hebrew words are literally, “shall cause the covenant (agreement) to be strong”...whose root can mean “prevail, have strength, be great, have stability, make firm.” The potency of this wording may imply the Jews are forced to accept the agreement (Road Map to Peace - 6/2003) because of the in-place-of-Messiah’s superior power... make a "firm" #01396 - [gabar] is a primary verb commonly associated with warfare and with strength and vitality of a successful warrior. Some TaNaK uses of "gabar" convey the sense of showing oneself as arrogant, overbearing, displaying attitudes and actions which reflect pride (boastful words - thinking himself important in his own mind -- conducts himself arrogantly (1), exert ). The idea inherent in gabar is to be strong, to triumph over or to prevail, thus picturing superior strength over someone or something. For example, gabar in Exodus 17 vividly portrays this idea... So it came about when Moshah held his hand up, that Israel prevailed (gabar), and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed (gabar). (Ex 17:11) A "covenant" in the Scriptural sense is an "agreement" between two parties - each have to "hold up their end of the bargain."
What will the many do? Covenant in our modern world has lost much of its Scriptural meaning but in the context of the Scriptures, covenant has always signified a solemn, binding agreement and as such represented the entering of two parties into an intimate, ostensibly indissoluble agreement. And so by entering into this covenant with the false -messiah, Israel will embrace this prince who is to come as a veritable "savior" who has been able to accomplish what heretofore all others have failed to produce - "Peace" in the Middle East. This prince becomes their "political messiah". Israel's desperate desire for peace, security and safety will play into the hands of false-messiah, who will convince them and the world that he can provide this peace.
And he hath strengthened a covenant/agreement with many -- one week [Young's Literal]
YashaYahuw 14:24 YaHuWaH Master of Armies has sworn, saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 14:25 that I shall break the Ashshuwr in My Land, and tread him under foot on My Mountains. Then his yoke shall leave them, and his burden leave their shoulders. 14:26 This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the Hand that is stretched out over all the nations. 14:27 For YaHuWaH Master of Armies has planned, and who can stop it? His Hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” YashaYahuw 10:22 For though Your people, Ysra'al, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them shall return [Romans 9:27-28] - a decisive end, overflowing with righteousness. 10:23 For the Master, YaHuWaH of Armies, is making a complete end, as decided, in the midst of the earth.
And he hath strengthened a covenant/agreement with many -- one week [Young's Literal]
And he shall confirm the covenant with the many one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for (because of) the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (desolator)
From TNT 9:27 Then the one of great authority shall confirm the covenant for a week, but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And with overspreading armies, and the repulsive idol that causes amazement, he will bring destruction; even until the utter destruction which has been determined is poured out upon the destroyer. ---- this is the last half of the week - 42 month reign of the beast.

"the midst of the seven"
Dan. 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many one seven; and in the midst of the seven he shall cause the slaughters and the grain offering to cease; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate; even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed/determined is poured out on the one who lays waste.' (or makes desolate - the abomination of desolation)
There are numerous events that transpire or begin to transpire at the "midst of the seven". Some are heavenly events and some are earthly events. They all "mesh" together during the "midst of the seven". They are many texts in the TaNaK and the Apostolic Writings that allude to this time - some are as follows:
The "Bench-mark texts": The Words of YaHuWSHuWaH ---
1. Matt. 24:15-21 “When, therefore, you see the abomination that lays waste (the true Belief), which was spoken of through Dani'al the prophet, standing in the Set-apart Place (let the reader understand), [Dan. 9:27, 11:31] …… , 24:21 for then (vs. 15) there shall be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be. " (Dan. 12:1) …. Luke 21:20-24 “But when you see Yahrushalom surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand. … For there shall be great distress in the Land, and wrath to this people. 21:24 They shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations. Yahrushalom shall be trampled down by the heathen, until the times of the nations are fulfilled. [42 months - Rev. 11 & 13] Mark 13:24 -19 "But when you see the abomination of desolation, (detestable worshipped image - Rev. 13:14-15) spoken of by Dani'al the prophet, standing where it ought not (let the reader understand) …. For in those days there will be oppression, such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation which YaHuWaH created until now, and never will be.
2. 2 Thess. 2:3-7 For that Day will not come until there is a great apostasy/defection against YaHuWaH and the man of lawlessness is revealed--the son of perdition/destruction (Yahuwchanan 17:12), 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Aluahiym or that is worshipped so he sits as Aluahiym in the Hekal of YaHuWaH showing himself that he is Aluahiym. 5Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? 6And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only in his own time. 7For this mystery of lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back is taken out of the way.
3. Dan. 11:45-12:1 "And he (King of the North) shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the beauteous kodesh Mountain; [valley of Meddigo/Yezreel] and he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. And at that time Miyka'al the great prince who protects your people will arise; and there shall be a time of distress (great oppression), such as has not happened since there was a nation even to that same time …."
4. Rev. 12:7- And there came to be fighting in the heavens: Miyka'al (Who is as the Mighty One) and His Messengers fought against the dragon. And the dragon and his messengers fought, But they were not strong enough, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. The great dragon was thrown out. He is the first snake [Bereshith. 3:2], he who is called the Slanderer and Opposer, who is misleading the whole inhabited world. He was thrown to the earth, and his messengers were thrown out with him. …. Woe to the earth and to the sea [the first 3 Trumpets affect the earth and the sea], because the Accuser has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time.”
5. Rev. 13:3 "And I saw one of his heads, as having been slain to death [sword wound of death (Greek)], and his deadly wound was healed. And all the earth wondered after the beast." 13:5 And he was given a mouth [-piece] (- a spokesman - the second beast) (mouth of a lion - IF the lion in Dan. 7 is speaking about Babel - then this "spokesman" is the Babel spoken of in Rev. 17 and 18. .. the great whore.) speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two moons. (the beast from the pit who possesses a man).
6. Rev. 11:2 "The court yard outside the Dwelling Place leave out and don’t measure it, for it has been given to the gentiles. They shall trample the Set-apart city under foot for forty-two moons." (This verse makes the Set-apart city the "courtyard" outside the Dwelling Place)
7. Rev. 11:17 "When they (Two witnesses) have completed their Witness, the Beast that comes up out of the abyss [pit of the deep - the place reserved for fallen messengers] will make war against them and will overcome them, and will kill them off."
8. Dan. 7:21 "I saw, and the same horn made war with the set-apart ones, and prevailed against them." … 7:25 And it (the horn) shall speak words against Alai'a, and shall wear out the set-apart ones of Alyonin; and it shall think to change the Zimnim (Appointed Occasions/times) and laws ; and they shall be given into its hand for a time and times and half a time. Dan. 8:24 "… and he shall destroy the mighty ones and the set-apart people. " Dan. 12:7 "… that is shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the Set-apart people, all these things shall be finished." Dan. 12: 11 "And from the time that the continual shall be taken away, and the abomination that lays waste set up (Chp. 8:9-12), there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." [Dan. 3:6, 11, 15 are types of Rev. 13:15 - the setting-up of the Abomination of Desolation in the midst of the week.]
9. Rev. 17:11 "And the Beast (from the bottomless pit) that was, and is not, is also an eighth head, and is from the seven, and he goes to annihilation. …"
10. Rev. 17:6 "The ten horns which you saw on the Beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall lay her waste and naked, and eat her flesh, and burn her with fire!"
10:1 In the third year of Kowresh king of Paras a word was revealed to Dani'al, whose name was called Beltesha'tstsar; and the word was true, and one of great warfare; and he gave heed to the word, and had understanding of the vision. (of Chp. 8 & comprising Chp. 9-12)
[alternate translation of 10:1 .... and true was the word but the appointed time was far ....]
2 In those days I Dani'al was mourning three whole weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
10:4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, (10 days after Pesach - 1 day before the last day of ULB) as I was by the side of the great river, which is Chiddiqel [Tigris], 5 I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a Man clothed in linen, Whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uwphaz; 6 His body also was like the beryl, and His face as the appearance of lightning, and His eyes as torches of fire, and His arms and His feet like in colour to burnished brass, and the Voice of His words like the Voice of a multitude.
[Rev. 1:12 I turned to see the Voice that spoke with me. Having turned, I saw seven golden menorot. 1:13 And among ha'menorot was One like a Son of Adam, clothed with a robe reaching down to His feet, and with a golden band around His chest. 1:14 His head and His hair were white as white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire. 1:15 His feet were like burnished brass [gold, silver, brass alloy], as if it had been refined in a furnace. His Voice was like the Voice of many waters. ]
7 And I Dani'al alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves. 8 So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet I heard the Voice of His words; and when I heard the Voice of His words, then I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, a hand touched me, which set me tottering upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
Lead-in to Chapter 11 ..... chp. 10:11-21
11 And he said to me: 'O Dani'al, you man greatly appreciated, listen to the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for now am I sent to you'; and when he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said he to me: 'Fear not, Dani'al; for from the first day that you did set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your Aluah [Dani'al's prayer of chp. 9], your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince* of the kingdom of Paras withstood me twenty-one days; but, lo, Miyka'al, one of the chief princes, came to help me; for I was left alone there with the kings of Paras. *(one of the "sons of Elohiym" who was fallen)
14 Now I am come to make you understand [chp. 8:15-19] what shall befall your people in the last days; for the vision is yet for the days to come.'
[alternate translation of 10:1 .... and true was the word but the appointed time was far ....] [8:16 And I heard the Voice of a man between the banks of Uwlay, who called, and said: 'Gabri'al, make this man to understand the vision.' 17 So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was terrified, and fell upon my face; but he said to me: 'Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongs to the time of the end.' 18 Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright. 19 And he said: 'Behold, I will make you know what shall be in the latter time of the indignation (end time of the rage) [Great Day of YaHuWaH]; for it belongs to the appointed time of the end. (for at Mo'ed - the end! / for at the Appointed Time - the end!)]
15 And when he had spoken to me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was dumb. 16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him that stood before me: 'O my Master, by reason of the vision my pains are come upon me, and I retain no strength. 17 For how can this servant of my Master talk with this my Master? For as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.' 18 Again one like the appearance of a man touched me, and he strengthened me. 19 And he said: 'O man greatly appreciated, fear not! shalowm be to you, be strong, yes, be strong.' And when he had spoken to me, I was strengthened, and said: 'Let my Master speak; for you have strengthened me.' 20 Then said he: Do you know why I have come to you? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Paras; and when I go leave, lo, the prince of Yawan shall come. 21 So I will declare to you that which is inscribed in the Scriptures of Truth; and there is none who stands firmly with me against these forces except Miyka'al your prince.
Bereshith 10:2 The sons of Yapheth: Gomer, Magog, Maday, Yawan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 10:3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 10:4 The sons of Yawan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 10:5 Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.
Bemidbar 24:23 He took up his parable, and said,“Alas, who shall live when Aluah does this? 24:24 But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall subdue Asshuwr, subdue Eber. But they too [Kittim]]will come to destruction.”
23And he took up his [prophetic] speech, and said: Alas, who shall live when YaHuWaH does this and establishes [Assyria]? 24But ships shall come from Kittim [Cyprus and the greater part of the Mediterranean's east coast] and shall afflict Assyria and Eber [the Hebrews, certain Arabs, and descendants of Nahor], and he [the victor] also shall come to destruction. [Amplified](Dan. 11:45)
YashaYahuw 31:8 (alternate reading) From the time You had announced to us the time appointed for the mighty deed of Your hand against the Kittim, saying: 'then shall Asshur fall with the sword not of man, and the sword, not of man, shall devour him".
11:1 And as for me, in the first year of Dar'yawesh ha Maday, I myself stood up to support and protect him.
[This prophecy was given in the third year of Koresh, king of Paras (c. 535 BCE). The next three Mayday-Paras kings after Koresh were: (1) his son, Cambyses II (530-522 BCE); (2) Gaumata the Magian (also known as the pseudo-Smerdis – 522 BCE); and (3) the Persian Darius I (the Great – 522-486 BCE). The fourth king was (4) Xerxes (486-465 BCE). ]
2 And now will I declare to you the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Paras; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all; and when he is waxed strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of yawan. 3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
[This mighty king was the Macedonian Alexander the Great, who defeated Persian King Darius III Codomannus in 333 BCE at the battle of Issus (located on the Mediterranean coast in what is now southeast Turkey). This defeat signaled the beginning of the end of the Persian empire.]
4 And when he has arisen, his reign shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven;
[The Greek empire of Alexander was not destined to endure. He fell ill and died on June 10, 323 BCE in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon.]
but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion wherewith he ruled; for his reign shall be uprooted, even for others beside these.
[After much fighting and jockeying for position, Alexander's empire was divided into four major portions by 301 BCE: (1) Cassander ruled over Greece, (2) Lysimachus ruled in Asia Minor, (3) Seleucus I Nicator ruled in Babylon and Persia, and (4) Ptolemy I Soter ruled over the Holy Land and Egypt.]
5 And a king of the South shall be strong, and one of his princes shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
[Twenty years later (281 BCE), when Seleucus I killed Lysimachus in battle, only two dynasties remained in Alexander's old empire – the Seleucid kings in the north and the Ptolemaic kings in the south].
6 And at the end of some years they [K of N & K of S] shall join themselves together [make an alliance]; and the daughter of the king of the South shall come to the king of the North to make an agreement[marriage]; but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begot her, and he that obtained her in those times.
[In 249 BCE, king of the South Ptolemy II Philadelphus sent his daughter Berenice to the king of the North Antiochus II Theos. His plan was to stop the war that was raging (the Second Syrian War) and unite the two kingdoms through their marriage. Unfortunately, this plan had a flaw: Antiochus II was already married. However, because he knew his marriage to Ptolemy II's daughter would ensure peace and allow him to regain most of the Syrian possessions his father had lost to the king of the South, Antiochus II put away his wife Laodice and married Berenice. She persuaded him to reject Laodice's children and set up her own to succeed him on the throne. However, after Ptolemy II died in 246 BCE, Antiochus II repudiated his marriage to Berenice and left her and their infant son to return to Laodice. Doubting his faithfulness, Laodice quickly murdered Antiochus II with poison. She then convinced her son, Seleucus II Callinicus, to kill both Berenice and her son. So, just as the prophecy said would happen, Ptolemy II king of the South, his daughter Berenice, and Antiochus II king of the North all lost in their struggle for power]
7 But one of the shoots of her [ancestral] roots shall stand up in his place, and shall come against the army, and shall enter into the stronghold of the king of the North, and shall fight with them, and will prevail;
Ptolemy III Euergetes, the eldest son of Ptolemy II and brother of Berenice, was not happy about the murder of his sister. He immediately invaded the Seleucid empire. His armies defeated the forces of new king of the North, Seleucus II, who was the son of Antiochus II and Laodice. His campaign was successful, and his armies achieved victory from the Tigris River to the coasts of Asia Minor. Ptolemy III captured and put to death Laodice. He was even able to enter Seleucia, the port city on the Tigris River of the capital Antioch, and leave a garrison there.
8 and also their mighty ones, with their molten images, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold, shall he bring into captivity into Mitsrayim; and he shall continue more years than the king of the North.
During the Third Syrian War, king of the South Ptolemy III is credited with recovering many of the sacred statues that the Persian forces of Cambyses had carried off during their conquest of Egypt some three hundred years earlier. Because of this, he was known as Euergetes ("Benefactor"). Ptolemy III acquired much gold and silver during his victorious campaign; in fact, from Seleucia alone he received 1, 500 talents of silver annually as tribute (about 10% of his annual income). He outlived Seleucus II, who died after falling from his horse, by four or five years (222 BCE).
9 Then he shall enter into the kingdom of the king of the South, but he shall return into his own land.
In 240 BCE, the king of the North, Seleucus II, attempted to invade Egypt in response to the humiliation he had suffered at the hands of Ptolemy III. However, he had to return in defeat after his fleet perished in a storm.
10 But his sons shall stir themselves up, and shall assemble a great army, and he shall come, and overflow, as he passes through; and he shall return and be stirred up as far as his stronghold.
The sons of Seleucus II were Seleucus III Ceraunos ("Thunder") and Antiochus III (the Great). Seleucus III, the eldest son of Seleucus II, began a war against the Egyptian provinces in Asia Minor. However, he was unsuccessful, and was assassinated by members of his army in Asia Minor in 223 BCE. Seleucus II's younger son, Antiochus III, took the throne at the age of 18 after his brother's death. In 219-218 BCE, Antiochus III victoriously went through Judea, coming almost to the borders of Egypt.
11 And the king of the South shall be enraged, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the North; who shall raise a large army, but the army shall be given into the hand of his enemy.
Antiochus III met Ptolemy IV Philopater at the Battle of Raphia (also known as the Battle of Gaza) in 217 BCE. Antiochus III, the king of the North, had 62,000 infantry, 6,000 calvary, and 103 war elephants. But the forces of Ptolemy IV, king of the South, were victorious in the battle. Antiochus III was forced to withdraw into Lebanon.
12 and the army shall be captured, and his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down tens of thousands; but he shall not prevail.
After his victory over Antiochus III, Ptolemy IV spent only three months settling affairs in the Holy Land before heading back to Alexandria. He was apparently eager to return to his luxurious and decadent life in Egypt. In his haste to go home, Ptolemy IV left the important port of Seleucia-in-Pieria on the Phoenician coast (which his father had first captured) in the hands of Antiochus III. After his victory at Gaza, the Egyptian troops trained to fight the Seleucids began a successful guerilla campaign against his rule in Egypt. By the end of Ptolemy IV's reign, they had achieved total independence in the southern part of Egypt.
13 And the king of the North shall again set forth a multitude, greater than the former; and he shall come on at the end of the times, even of years (we are told here what "times" means), with a great army and with much substance.
After the death of Ptolemy IV in 204 BCE, Antiochus III rallied his forces once again to attack the kingdom of the South. In the Fifth Syrian War (202-195 BCE), Antiochus III swept down into Judea from Syria. He retook the territory that he had occupied some eighteen years previously. When Antiochus III withdrew for the winter, the Egyptian commander Scopas reconquered the southern portions of the lost territory, including Judea and Jerusalem.
14 And in those times many shall stand up against the king of the South; also the children of the violent among your people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall stumble [fall].
Antiochus III negotiated an alliance with King Philip V of Macedonia to divide up Egypt's Asian possessions. After some temporary setbacks (particularly at Gaza), Antiochus III's army inflicted a crushing defeat on the Ptolemaic forces about 199 BCE at Paneas, near the headwaters of the Jordan River. Regarding the prophesied actions of the Jews, the Jewish historian Josephus wrote: "Yet was it not long afterward when Antiochus overcame Scopas, in a battle fought at the fountains of Jordan, and destroyed a great part of his army. But afterward, when Antiochus subdued those cities of Celesyria which Scopas had gotten into his possession, and Samaria with them, the Jews, of their own accord, went over to him, and received him into the city [Jerusalem], and gave plentiful provision to all his army, and to his elephants, and readily assisted him when he besieged the garrison which was in the citadel of Jerusalem. (Ant. 12.3.3)"
Unfortunately, this Jewish assistance was not to be remembered when Antiochus IV later came against Jerusalem.
15 And the king of the North shall come, and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city; and the forces of the South shall not stand; not his chosen troops, for there is no strength to stand.
Following his defeat at Paneas, Scopas fled to the fortified port city of Sidon. But after Antiochus III besieged it, Scopas surrendered in 199 BCE in exchange for safe passage out of the city back to Egypt. He and his troops were allowed to leave the city naked after giving up their weapons.
16 But he [king of the North] that comes against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the Eretz haTsebi [Beautiful Land], and in his hand shall be destruction.
With his final victory over Scopas at Sidon, Antiochus the Great took the Holy Land away from the Egyptians for good. Judea and Jerusalem had passed from the king of the South to the king of the North.
17 And he shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him upright conditions and terms of peace and make an agreement/alliance with him; and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt and destroy it [the alliance with Egypt] and the kingdom; but it shall not succeed, neither be an advantage for him.
Young Ptolemy V had entered into a treaty with Antiochus III after his military defeat in the Fifth Syrian War. Through this treaty, Antiochus III tried to strengthen his position and expand his empire even further. Ptolemy V surrendered his Asian holdings to the king of the North and accepted Antiochus III's daughter, Cleopatra I, as a bride. They were married in 194 BCE. Through this marriage, Antiochus III sought to gain a foothold in Egypt itself through his daughter. But his plan backfired. Cleopatra I was a true wife to Ptolemy V, standing by him instead of seeking to benefit her father. Cleopatra I was beloved by the Egyptian people for her loyalty to her husband.
18 After this shall he set his face to the isles, and shall take many; but a prince or commander shall cause the insults offered by him to cease; then he shall cause his own insults to return upon him.
In 192 BCE, the ambitious Antiochus III crossed into Greece to aid the Aetolians. He sent ambassadors to Rome asking for friendship. However, the Roman senate replied that they would be friends if Antiochus III left the Greeks in Asia free and independent and if he kept away from Europe. Antiochus III refused, and went to war against Rome. With 10,000 men, Antiochus III sailed across the Aegean Sea and took some strongholds in Asia Minor.
But in doing so, he alienated his former ally, Macedonian king Philip V. The Roman army entered Asia Minor and defeated the larger forces of Antiochus III at the Battle of Magnesia in 190 BCE. In the peace treaty of Apamea in 188 BCE, Roman general Publius Scipio set a high cost on Antiochus III for peace. He demanded twenty hostages (including his son, Antiochus IV), a reduction of naval ships to twelve, and payment to Rome for the cost of the war totaling 15,000 talents over the next twelve years. The all-consuming ambition of Antiochus III had finally brought defeat to the kingdom of the North.
19 Then he shall turn his face toward the strongholds of his own land; but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found.
As a consequence of the Roman victory over Antiochus III, the outlying provinces of the Seleucid empire again reasserted their independence. With his kingdom now reduced to Syria, Mesopotamia, and western Iran, Antiochus III was in dire need of funds with which to pay Rome for the cost of the war. In 187 BCE, while attempting to plunder a pagan temple in Babylon near Susa (Shushan), Antiochus III was murdered.
20 Then shall stand up in his place one that shall cause an exactor of tribute to pass through the esteem of the kingdom; but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
Antiochus III's eldest son, Seleucus IV Philopater, took over after his father's death. Due to the heavy debt burden imposed by Rome, he was forced to seek an ambitious taxation policy on his shrunken empire. This included heavy taxation on the people of Israel. In fact, Seleucus IV even sent his treasurer, Heliodorus, to the Temple in Jerusalem to extract money.
The Roman senate decided to trade hostages; therefore, they ordered Seleucus IV to send his son Demetrius, the heir to the throne, to Rome. In return, the Romans released Seleucus IV's younger brother, Antiochus IV. When released, Antiochus IV went to Athens.
In 175 BCE, after Demetrius had been sent away to Rome, Seleucus IV was poisoned by his minister Heliodorus. Some historians think that Heliodorus desired the throne for himself, while others believe that Antiochus IV was behind the murder. Seleucus' young son, (another Antiochus – age 5) was put on the throne in his place. However, Heliodorus was the actual power behind the throne.
[Verses 21-32 are all dealing with Antiochus IV - Antiochus Epiphanes - the type of the anti-Maschiyach…. and prophetic of the "fierce King"…. Verses 33-35 concern what befalls the Jews because of his actions .... from 36-45 a new king is pictured.]
21 And in his place shall stand up a contemptible person, upon whom had not been conferred the majesty of the reign; but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the reign by flatteries (fine promises).
The widely held view which I also believed is that this passage starting in verse 21 through verse 35 is describing the career of Antiochus Epiphanes whereas verses 36 through 45 are describing the career of the future Anti-mashiyach.
When paying close attention to the passage we notice that verse 36 does not change subjects but continues to describe the actions of the person talked about in verses 21-35. The entire passage appears to be talking about the Anti-mashiyach alone, not about two different personalities.
With Seleucus IV dead, the rightful heir to the throne was the young Demetrius. However, he was no longer available, having been sent to Rome as a hostage. At the time of the murder, Antiochus IV was in Athens. However, when he heard of his brother's death, he quickly sailed to Pergamum. Once there, he sought the help of Eumenes II, the king of Pergamum. By flattering Eumenes II and his brother Attalus, he received their support and backing.
Antiochus IV arrived in Seleucia with a powerful ally and thwarted Heliodorus' designs on the throne. He became co-regent and protector of Seleucus IV's infant son (also named Antiochus). In 170 BCE, the younger Antiochus was murdered while Antiochus IV was conveniently absent, paving the way for him to take sole possession of the throne.
22 Before him the overwhelming forces of invading armies shall be swept away and broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant [Negid Brit].
Because of his ability to charm people and ally himself with them, Antiochus IV Epiphanes ("God manifest") was able to overcome all threats to his throne. The prince of the covenant here is a reference to the Jewish high priest Onias III. He was the high priest at the time that Antiochus IV came to the throne. A brother of Onias named Joshua, who had become hellenized and changed his name to Jason, made a deal with Antiochus IV. Jason told him that he would pay Antiochus IV a large bribe if he would remove Onias and make him high priest in his place. So Antiochus IV forced Onias out and installed his brother Jason as high priest in Jerusalem in 174 BCE.
In 172 BCE, Jason sent a priest named Menelaus to Antiochus IV with his tribute money. However, Menelaus took Jason's money, added some of his own to it, and bribed Antiochus IV to secure the high priesthood for himself. Menelaus then returned to Jerusalem and deposed Jason, who fled for his life. Antiochus IV's double-cross of Jason shows the true nature of his character.
23 And from the time that an alliance is made with him he shall work deceitfully; and he shall come up unexpectedly and become strong, with a small number of people.
Once again, the "king of the North" set his sights on the kingdom of the South. In Egypt, the 14-year old Ptolemy VI Philometer had become king. He was the nephew of Antiochus IV; his mother (Cleopatra I) was Antiochus IV's sister. Antiochus IV sought an alliance with Ptolemy VI, seeking to take advantage of what he perceived as weakness in the Ptolemaic kingdom and gain Egypt for himself. He moved through Syria and Judea into Egypt with a small army, so as to not arouse suspicion to his true motive, and seized Egypt. His cover story was that he was coming to act as the "protector" of his nephew, Ptolemy VI.
24 In time of security shall he come even upon the fattest places of the province [of Egypt]; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers: he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance; yes, he shall devise his devices against fortresses, but only for the time.
Antiochus IV pursued a novel plan for gaining the Egyptian-controlled provinces. He moved into the parts of the kingdom that were the richest. Then he did something that no other Seleucid king had ever done. Antiochus IV spread around some of the spoils from his war campaigns to secure the loyalty of the people. The historical book of I Maccabees states that he spent much on the public (I Mac. 3:30). It is even reported that he would go into the streets and throw money to the citizens there. However, this was only the beginning of Antiochus IV's plan. Using his cunning, he visited Egyptian strongholds to find out their power.
25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army; and the king of the South shall stir himself up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall devise devices against him.
In 170 BCE, when Antiochus IV felt secure about the state of his own kingdom, he decided to take Egypt by force in what came to be known as the Sixth Syrian War. He regarded Ptolemy VI as a weak ruler and therefore not capable of successfully waging war against him. Antiochus IV was able to move his army to the border of Egypt before he was met by the Egyptians at Pelusium, which is near the Nile Delta. The Egyptians had a large army arrayed against him there. Antiochus, risking death by riding into the midst of the battle of Pelusium, ordered the Egyptians to be taken alive instead of slain. By this policy, he gained Pelusium and later took Memphis.
26 Yea, they that eat of his food shall destroy him, and his army shall be swept away; and many shall fall down slain.
Ptolemy VI's army, although large, was not able to withstand Antiochus IV. In large part, this was due to the intrigues of Antiochus IV, who corrupted several of the Egyptian ministers and officers. This was one of the main causes of the defeat of Ptolemy VI. Those who were in his confidence and possessed the secrets of the state betrayed him to Antiochus IV. For example, Ptolemy Macron (also called "Ptolemy the son of Dorymenes") had been appointed by Ptolemy VI as governor of Cyprus. However, sensing the young king's weakness, he deserted to Antiochus IV, who made him governor of Coele Syria and Phoenicia.
27 And as for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper, for the end remains yet for the appointed time [ha'moed].
After he took control of Pelusium and Memphis, Antiochus IV set his sights on Alexandria. Due to the intrigues of Antiochus IV mentioned in verse 26, the Alexandrians had renounced their allegiance to Ptolemy VI, and had made his younger brother, Ptolemy VII Euergetes, king in his place. While at Memphis, Antiochus IV and Ptolemy VI had frequent conferences. Antiochus IV professed his great friendship to his nephew and concern for his interests, but his true plan was to weaken Egypt by setting the brothers against one another.
Conversely, Ptolemy VI professed gratitude to his uncle for the interest he took in his affairs. He laid the blame of the war upon his minister Eulaeus, one the guardians appointed to watch over him after his father's death. All the while, Ptolemy VI sought to smooth over things with his brother Ptolemy VII so they could join forces against their deceitful uncle, Antiochus IV.
28 And he shall return to his own land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the Brit Kodesh; and he shall do his pleasure, and return to his own land.
While Antiochus IV was engaged in Egypt, a false rumor arose in Judea that he had been killed. This prompted deposed high priest Jason to raise an army of 1,000 men and attack Jerusalem. His army captured the city and forced the high priest Menelaus to take refuge in the Akra fortress in Jerusalem. When news of the fighting in Jerusalem reached Antiochus IV, he took it to mean that Judea was in revolt against him.
Antiochus IV left Egypt; on his way home, he and his armies marched against Jerusalem. He commanded his soldiers to kill everyone they encountered (men, women, and children). Within the space of three days, his forces had killed somewhere between 40,000 and 80,000 people. A similar number were captured and sold into slavery.
Not satisfied with the slaughter, Antiochus IV entered the Temple and (guided by Menelaus) took the holy vessels, including the golden altar, the menorah, the table for the showbread, the cups for drink offerings, the bowls, the golden censers, the curtain, the crowns, and the gold decoration on the front of the temple. He took all the silver and gold, as well as the hidden treasures which he found. After appointing the Phrygian Phillip as governor in Jerusalem, Antiochus IV then returned to Antioch.
29 At the appointed time [ha'moed] he shall return, and go toward the south; but it shall not be in the latter time as it was in the former.
Meanwhile, in Egypt brothers Ptolemy VI and Ptolemy VII reconciled and agreed to share power. This annulled Antiochus IV's alliance with Ptolemy VI and caused his loss of control over the Ptolemaic kingdom. Because of this, in 168 BCE Antiochus IV once again sought to go to war against Egypt. However, this time he would not have the same success as he achieved previously.
30 For ships of Kittim shall come against him, and he shall be cowed, and he shall return, and have indignation against the Brit Kodesh, and shall do his pleasure; and he shall return [back to Palestine], and have regard [make common cause with] them that forsake the Brit Kodesh.
Because they knew that they could not defeat Antiochus IV alone, the Ptolemy brothers appealed to Rome for help. In order to check the threat of Greek expansion, the Romans agreed to provide assistance. The "ships from Kittim" here refer to the ships which brought the Roman legions to Egypt in fulfillment of the defense pact.
As Antiochus IV and his army marched toward Alexandria, they were met by three Roman senators led by Gaius Popillius Laenas in Eleusis, a suburb of Alexandria. There, Roman ambassador Popillius delivered to Antiochus IV the Senate's demand that he withdraw from Egypt. When the king requested time for consultation, Popillius drew a circle around Antiochus IV with a stick he was carrying and told him not to leave the circle until he gave his response. The king of the North was astonished at this display of Roman arrogance, but after a brief time, said he would do all that the Romans demanded.
On his return to Syria, Antiochus IV tried to ease the sting of the humiliation he had suffered at the hands of the Romans by taking out his frustration on the Jews in Judea. His armies encircled Jerusalem and then attacked. All those Jews who resisted were executed. However, the pro Hellenistic Jews who allied themselves with Antiochus IV were left unharmed.
31 And armies from him will arise, and they shall profane the set-apart place - the stronghold, and shall take away the continual, and they shall set up the abomination that lays waste (haShiquts Meshomeim).
Antiochus IV's army desecrated the Temple and stopped the daily slaughters. On the 15th of Kislev, in December 168 BCE, the Syrians built a pagan altar over the altar of burnt offering in the Temple and placed an image of Zeus Olympius upon it. Ten days later, on the 25th of Kislev, swine's flesh was offered on the altar to Zeus.
32 And such as do wickedly against the Brit shall he corrupt by flatteries; but the people that know their Aluah shall show strength, and prevail.
After venting his anger upon the Jews and desecrating the Temple, Antiochus IV decreed that his entire kingdom should become one people, each giving up his own customs. The other peoples under his rule accepted Antiochus IV's command. Because of his flattering approach, many of the people of Israel also forsook the Torah and adopted his religion.
Antiochus IV commanded a change in all the ordinances of G_d. No offerings were to be offered in the Set-apart Place, the Sabbaths and feasts were to be profaned, and that the Jews were not to circumcise their sons. Upon pain of death, they were commanded to profane the true religion so that eventually the Torah would be forgotten. Antiochus IV appointed inspectors to watch the Jews and commanded the cities of Judah to offer pagan offerings. Yet many in Israel stood firm and rejected the innovations of the king of the North.
(Verse 32 is the last time that Antiochus is referred to as a person - he.)
33 And those of the people who have insight shall give understanding to many; yet they shall fall/stumble by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, many days.
Whenever Antiochus IV's men found copies of the Torah, they tore them to pieces and burned them. Whoever was found in possession of a Torah was put to death. According to Antiochus IV's decree, women who had their children circumcised were put to death, along with their entire families and those who had circumcised them. Still, many in Israel chose to die rather than to break the holy covenant.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries.
As the historical book of I Maccabees shows, the decrees of Antiochus IV eventually led to a rebellion started by the priest Mattathias and his five sons (including Judas Maccabee). He and his family had fled from Jerusalem to Modein when the Seleucid forces took the city. There, Mattathias killed a Jew who was sacrificing according to Antiochus IV's command, as well as the king's officer who was forcing them to slaughter. From this first act of rebellion, a guerilla war against the forces of Antiochus IV began. After the death of his father Mattathias in 167 BCE, Judas Maccabee defeated the large army of Antiochus IV's general Apollonius. This victory helped Judas to gather a sizable force; however, only a minority of the soldiers were actually faithful men.
Next, Seron, the commander of the Syrian army, came against the forces of Judas. His army was also defeated by Judas, and his fame spread all the way to Antioch. King Antiochus IV was greatly angered by the exploits of Judas and his men, and he gathered his army. He opened the royal treasury and gave his soldiers a year's wages, ordering them to be ready for whatever action needed to be taken.
This approach quickly emptied the royal treasury of funds and made it necessary for Antiochus IV to seek additional tribute and spoil from his lands. In 166 BCE, he decided to go to Persia to collect or seize by force the needed money. Antiochus IV left his general Lysias in charge of his son and half of his army, with instructions to attack and destroy Jerusalem and Judea. Lysias sent an army of 40,000 infantry and 7,000 cavalry and marched into Judea. He met the forces of Judas Maccabee (3,000 poorly equipped men) near Emmaus. However, despite being vastly outnumbered, Judas' army routed the Syrians, killing 3,000 and putting the rest to flight.
In 165 BCE, Lysias again sent the Syrian army (now numbering 60,000 infantrymen and 5,000 cavalry) against the Jewish forces, which had risen to 10,000. This time, 5,000 Syrians were killed and Lysias fled back to Antioch. Because of his great victory, Judas and his men were able to recapture the Temple.
The pious Jews cleansed and renewed it, and on Kislev 25, 165 BCE, three years to the day (11095.75 days) after the first abominable slaughter had been offered, the new altar was rededicated and kodesh slaughters offered. The Jews celebrated the rededication of the Temple for eight days. In memory of the Jewish victory and rededication of the Temple, Judas Maccabee decreed that the Feast of Dedication (called Chanukah in Hebrew) was to be observed every year thereafter for eight days, beginning on Kislev 25.
In 164 BCE, Antiochus IV's army was defeated at Elymais, Persia when he attempted to plunder the city of its gold and silver. Soon thereafter, a messenger came from Antioch and notified him of the defeat of his armies by Judas and the Jews. Terribly shaken by these events, he fell sick and became bedridden. Antiochus IV died shortly after that.
35 And some of them that have insight will stumble, in order to refine, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; for it is still for the time appointed (the Appointed Moed - ha'moed - a future Feast Day).
When the Gentile nations around Judea heard of their victory over the Seleucids, they became very angry. They began to kill those Jews who lived among them. Judas Maccabee and his brother Simon went out to fight against those Gentiles who sought to kill the Jews and defeated them. After the death of Judas Maccabee in battle in 161 BCE, persecution continued upon the Jews, as history records. Many wicked Jews who had opposed Judas and his goals took opportunity after his death to persecute and kill righteous Jews. Beginning with Mattathias' leadership of the rebellion against Antiochus IV, the rule of the Hasmoneans (named after Mattathias' grandfather, Asmoneus) lasted from 168 until 37 BCE.
Verse 36 introduces us to a new, "different", "fierce", and "self-willed king" who will stand up in the latter days out of the territory of the ancient "king of the north" - the Seleucid empire .... which also comprised the ancient territory of Ashshuwr whose capital was Ninewah ( this king thus becomes the Ashshuwrian that YaHuWaH said He would destroy) located in northern Iraq near Mosul; and Babel whose capital is about 60 miles south of present day Baghdad; the capital of Selucid empire was Seleucia, just south of Baghdad. This territory is also the location of the stream "Uwlay" ( Basra near Iraq/Iran border) from which Dani'al saw the vision of the ram and he-goat).
Identification problem:
The last "major player" mention before verse 36 was "the contemptible person"of verses 21-32 that are dealing with Antiochus IV - Antiochus Epiphanes - the type of the anti-Maschiyach. .... (Verses 33-35 concern what befalls the Jews because of his actions.) Only in verse 27 is he identified as a "king" in the phrase "both these kings". From history, we know that the one identified as such is the "king of the North". From verse 5 to verse 32, Yahuwah has been telling us about the kings of the North and South and their ventures. …. So, why would He throw us a "curve ball" and introduce another "king" other than the king of the south or the north - not mentioned before? The description of this "king" matches that of "the fierce king" of chapter 8 who would "stand up" in the last days out of one of "one of the four winds/or horns" or out of one of the divisions of the "broken horn" who have been carefully traced-down and identified by Gabri'al as "the kings of the N and S" - this "king" is the focal point of his prophecy. The problem arises in verse 40 over the antecedents of "him" - to whom do they point? "The King" or "King of the North"? Are they different or the same one? According to most translations, the "him" points to "the king" of verse 36. A major problem of having this "king" be the king of the north is that in Dan. 12:45 "he- K of N" comes to his end with none to help him and when this happens then comes the Great Tribulation spoken about in Matt. 24. And we know that the Great Tribulation does not happen until the Abomination of Desolation is set up - thus the "one" who comes to his end with none helping him cannot be the Abomination of Desolation or "the fierce king" of Danial 8.
36 And the king [probably pointing to the king of fierce face of Dan. 8 but not identified as of the north or south] shall do as he pleases; and he shall exalt himself, and show himself to be great above every mighty one, and shall speak incredible things against the Al of mighty ones; and he shall prosper until the indignation [plagues] has been accomplished [Day of YaHuWaH]; for that which has been decreed shall be done (chp. 9:27) 37 and have no regard for the mighty ones of his fathers nor for the desire of women (tammuz), nor any mighty one but shall magnify himself above all. (and trampled upon the starry hosts. .. 8:9-10) Note: it is not said he shall not worship any god; the reverse is evident; but that he shall not regard any, that is, his own glory is his highest end. (Hislop)
[This "king" sounds very much like the "son of perdition" spoken about in II Thess. below ---
For that Day will not come until there is a great apostasy/defection against YaHuWaH and the man of lawlessness is revealed--the son of perdition/destruction (Yahuwchanan 17:12), 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Aluahiym or that is worshipped so he sits as Aluahiym in the Hekal (Mount) of YaHuWaH showing himself that he is Aluahiym. 5 Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? 6 And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only in his own time/season. 7 For this mystery of lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back is taken out of the way8 Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, whom the Master YaHuWSHuWaH will consume with the Breath of His mouth and destroy by the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working/energizing of Satan, with all power and signs and false/counterfeit wonders, (Deut. 13:1-3) [second Beast of Rev 13] 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish because they did not believe the truth that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason YaHuWaH will send them strong delusion that they might believe the Lie, 12 that they may all be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
["the king" is by context referring to the "fierce king" of Chapter 8:23-25 which will stand up in the final times of the K of S and K of N which was just expounded upon by Gabri'al. … also the "little horn" of Dan. 7 and the beast of Rev. 13:5]
chp. 8: 22 - And as for that which was broken, in the place where four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power. 23 And in the latter time of their rule, when the transgressors have filled up their measure, there shall stand up a king, fierce of face, and an expert in dark sayings/intrigue/politics. 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power, and he shall cause astounding devastation, and shall succeed in whatever he does. He shall destroy mighty men (nations and leaders by war and conquest) and the set-apart people. 25 And through his cunning he shall cause craft (fraud, deceit and treachery) to prosper in his hand; and in his heart he shall think of himself as extremely important, and in tranquility he will destroy many, and he will even stand up against the Prince of princes - yet he shall be destroyed, but not by human power.
Rev.13:5 A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him. 13:6 He opened his mouth for blasphemy against YaHuWaH , to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven. 13:7 It was given to him to make war with the set-apart ones, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him. 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the overthrow of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed. [this happens after his deadly wound is healed]
2 Thess. 2:3 -7 For that Day will not come until there is a great rebellion against YaHuWaH and the man of lawlessness is revealed--the son of destruction/perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Aluah or that is worshipped so he sits as Aluah in the Set-apart Place of YaHuWaH showing himself that he is Aluah. 5 Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? 6 And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only in his own time. 7 For this secret of lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back is taken out of the way. [ Rev. 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written:(as a secret) " BABEL THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE WHORES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” ( in Hebrew: BABEL HA'GEDOLAH HI, EIM HA'ZENUT wSHIQUTSEI HA'ARETS)] 8 Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, whom the Master YaHuWSHuWaH will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy by the splendor of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan [the Adversary], with all power and signs and lying wonders, [second Beast of Rev 13] 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish because they did not believe the truth that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason YaHuWaH will send them a working delusion that they might believe the Lie, that they may all be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
38 But instead shall he honour the mighty-one of fortifications [Ala Mahozim) munitions/war/ power and riches]; and a mighty-one whom his fathers knew not [wall street/world financial systems ?] shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and costly things. 39 And he shall act against the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign mighty one; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and cause them to rule over the many, and will parcel out the Land for a price. (chp.9:27)
"He shall not REGARD * any god, for he shall magnify himself above all. BUT, in establishing himself, shall he honour the god of fortifications (Ala Mahozim), and a god, whom his fathers knew not, shall he honour with gold and silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things. Thus shall he make into strengthening bulwarks (Ala Mahozim) [for himself] the people of a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and he shall divide the land for gain." 13:2 The beast (1 head) which I saw was like a leopard (Dan 7:6 - 4 heads), and his feet were like those of a bear (Dan 7:5 - 1 head), and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. (Dan 7:4 - 1 head) [this beast is a compilation of the 4 animals of Dan. 7 (7 heads - but the body being like the leopard (Yawan/Greece ?) from which the Seleucid kingdom - Iraq/Ashshuwr - king of the North came.]

Young's Literal Translation
'And at the time of the end, push himself forward with him doth a king of the south, and storm against him doth a king of the north, with chariot, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he hath come in to the lands, and hath overflowed, and passed over,
Bible in Basic English
And at the time of the end, the king of the south will make an attack on him: and the king of the north will come against him like a storm-wind, with war-carriages and horsemen and numbers of ships; and he will go through many lands like overflowing waters.
World English Bible
At the time of the end shall the king of the south contend with him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass through.
Dani'al 11:40 And at the time of the end the king of the south (Negeb) shall push at him [the king]; and against him the king of the north shall come like a whirlwind, with chariots (Ibry word means tanks!), and with horsemen (infantry), and with many ships; and he [K of N]shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow, as he [K of N] passes through. 41 He shall enter also into the beauteous land [Ysra'al], and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall be delivered out of his hand, Edom, and Mow'ab, and the prominent people of Ammown [all in Jordan]
[YashaYahuw (Isaiah) 16:3-4 Give counsel! Execute justice! Make your shade like the night in the midst of the noonday! Hide the outcasts! Don’t betray the fugitive! Let My outcasts dwell with you! 42 Then he shall also stretch forth his hand against other countries; and the land of Mitsrayim shall not escape. [YashaYahuw 19:4 I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord. A fierce king [Dan. 8:23] will rule over them,” says the Master, YaHuWaH Master of Armies.] … "stretch forth" has the connotation of doing this from a distance - by influence - outposts - financial control, thru the UN, etc.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Mitsrayim; and the Lubiym and the Kuwshiym shall be at his steps (do his bidding).
Yehzeqel 30:1-5 The Word of YaHuWaH came again to me, saying, Son of Adam, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Master YaHuWaH: Wail, Alas for The Day! For the Day is near, even The Day of YaHuWaH is near; it shall be a Day of clouds, a time of the heathen [Luke 21:24]. A sword shall come on Mitsrayim, and anguish shall be in Kuwsh, when the slain shall fall in Mitsrayim; and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down. Kuwsh, and Puwt, and Luwd, and all the mixed people, and Kuwb, and the children of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword. [Puwt = Libya, some of Egypt and North Africa. Kuwsh = Ethiopia, some of Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen and North Africa] … The context ot this prophecy is during the very end time close to the Great Day of YaHuWaH.
44 But tidings[news] out of the east and out of the north shall affright/alarm him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and annihilate many [exterminate - pre-emptive nuclear strike ?]. 45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the beauteous kodesh Mountain; [valley of Meddigo/Yezreel] and he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
[Notice that this king does not make it to Yahrushalom to set up the abomination of desolation nor does he set foot on YaHuWaH's Mountain.] [He will pitch the tents of his pavilion between seas by Har Tsebi Qodesh [Set-apart Mountain], but will come to his end and there is no one helping him.] (w4w by Todd Efren)
[If the antecedent for "him" - is "the king" of verse 36 - and is correct, then the K of S will make some kind of an attack on this "him" and the K of N will come against this "him" with a great force and in doing so will end up subduing numerous African nations and taking out by a preemptive nuclear strike the ones from the east and north that were alarming him. He will end up with his forces near to Yahrushalom where he will meet his end - with none helping him. This will make it possible for "the king" (who may have received a deadly wound) to then take control of the world - bringing about the "time of trouble such as the world has never seen" - the rule of the Beasts of Rev. 13 for 42 months which will come to an end when the wrath of Aluahiym and the Lamb is poured out on all the wicked. …. IF? …. this is "the king" of chp. 8:23-25 and the "little horn" of chp. 7. We read in 2nd Thess. "For that Day will not come until there is a great apostasy/defection against YaHuWaH and the man of lawlessness is revealed--the son of perdition/destruction (Yahuwchanan 17:12), 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called Aluahiym or that is worshipped so he sits as Aluahiym in the Hekal of YaHuWaH showing himself that he is Aluahiym. 5Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? 6And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only in his own time/season. 7For this mystery of lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back is taken out of the way."
Thus, it may be that the K of N is the one who is holding back "this fierce king" and when the K of N comes to his end with none to help him -- then the "fierce king" will take over the world as depicted in Rev. 13. This fits well with Dan. 12:1 - which states emphatically the the "great time of trouble" comes immediately after the K of N coming to his end.
Bemidbar 24:23 He took up his parable, and said,“Alas, who shall live when Aluah does this? 24:24 But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall subdue Asshuwr (present day Iraq), subdue Eber. But they too [Kittim]]will come to destruction.”........ Note: Kittim at the time of this prophecy were all the lands and peoples to the west of Ysra'al - beyond the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
3And he took up his [prophetic] speech, and said: Alas, who shall live when YaHuWaH does this and establishes [Assyria]? 24But ships shall come from Kittim [Cyprus and the greater part of the Mediterranean's east coast] and shall afflict Assyria and Eber [the Hebrews, certain Arabs, and descendants of Nahor], and he [the victor] also shall come to destruction. [cf. YirmeYahuw 23:7-8 & Matt. 24:31]
Yo'el 2:32 It will happen that whoever shall call on the Name of YaHuWaH shall be delivered (saved); for in Mount Tsiyown and in Yahrushalom there shall be those who escape [are delivered], as YaHuWaH has said, and in the remnant, those whom YaHuWaH shall call.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to The Age of Life, and some to reproaches and age-abiding abhorrence. 3 And those who have insight shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn the many to righteousness as the stars l’`olam wa`ed.
12:4 But you, O Daniyel, shut up haDebarim/words, and seal up haSefer/scroll, even to the time of the end; many shall do research/scrutinize it, (push forth) [they-will-go-here-and-there in the Word looking for the answers and knowledge shall be increased.'] (to "seal" a prophecy is to make hidden the understanding of it until the designated "unsealing" time. … which we are told is in 'time of the end'.)
5 Then I Dani'al looked, and, behold, there stood two others, one on the bank of the river on this side, and the other on the bank of the river on that side. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river: 'How long shall it be to the end of the wonders?' 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river,
[Dan. 12 is a continuation of the vision of Dan. 10-11]10:1 In the third year of Kowresh king of Paras a word was revealed to Dani'al, whose name was called Beltesha'tstsar; and the word was true, even a great warfare; and he gave heed to the word, and had understanding of the vision. ..... 10:4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, (10 days after Pesach) as I was by the side of the great river, which is Chiddiqel,
and he lifted up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of shattering the power of the Set-apart people, all these things shall be finished.[the time, times and a half are the same as mentioned in Rev. 12:14 - the 2nd fleeing] 8 And I heard, but I understood not; then said I: 'O my Master, what shall be the latter end of these matters?'
9 And he said: 'Go your way, Dani'al; for the words are hidden and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but those who have insight shall understand. 11 And from the time that the continual shall be taken away, and the abomination that lays waste set up (Chp. 8:9-12), there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. (+ 30 days) 12 Happy is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But you, go your way till the end be; and you shall rest, and shall rise again for your allotted portion, at the end of the age.' (the 1335 days) Dani'al is being told that the end of the 1335 days would be in the Millennium - the time when the tribes are given their lot in the Land of Ysra'al - and he would be given his part of that Land then.! The resurrection of all who have died in Yahuwah occurs on Yom Teruah (Trumpets) after the 1260 days of tribulation has ended. Then 75 more days takes us into the Millennium at which time Dani'al is given his allotment in the Land.
