The Tetragrammaton = hwhy = YaHuWaH
Amos (pronounced AH-mose) was from a small town in the hill country of Yahuwdah. His name means “burden-bearer” or “to place a load upon”, with a root meaning of encouraging. He prophesied while both kingdoms of Ysra'al were still thriving. In fact, Yahuwdah and Ysra'al had just expanded their borders and taken control of many trade routes in the newly-acquired territories. They had become very prosperous, but this brought about political corruption and exploitation of the poor by the “newly rich”, and most of all, forgetfulness that they were set apart from all other nations for YaHuWaH’s special purposes.
Amows
1:1 The words of Amows, who was among the herdsmen of Teqowa, which he saw concerning Ysra'al in the days of UzziYahuw king of Yahuwdah, and in the days of Yarab'am the son of Yow'ash king of Ysra'al, two years before the earthquake.
Sheep-branders: Having spent a lot of time with animals taught Amos much about caring for YaHuWaH’s flock. Being one of those who counted the ones that “passed under the rod”, he would be concerned for individual sheep, like the shepherd in Yahuwshua’s parable. (Mat. 18:12) Indeed, it was only the “lost sheep of the House of Ysra'al” (the very ones Amos was addressing) to whom Yahuwshuwah said He was sent. (Mat. 15:24) Teqoa: the name refers to a stockade, or possibly a sheepfold, but at its root it means “a trumpet”, and is related to the word for the short, staccato blasts on a shofar that signal danger or war (teqia). Yarab’am: Not the same one who led the secession of Ysra'al from Rehab’am, son of Shelomoh, but another, who began to reign 15 years after UzziYahuw’s father AmatsYahuw began to reign, and reigned 41 years. (See 2 Kings 14:23). He began as a wicked king, but tradition says he was encouraged by the prophet Yonah, and turned around and had many great successes. The earthquake: literally, shaking—perhaps one of the massive catastrophes caused by the former orbit of Mars crossing over earth’s orbit every 54 years. (Patten, Hatch, and Steinhauer) The last was in 701 B.C., which threw both into their present orbits and changed the earth year from 360 days to 365.24. The next to the last passby would have therefore been in 755 B.C., which coincides with the reigns of both kings mentioned here, according to the chronology by John Walton. (UzziYahuw reigned from approx. 790 to 740, and Yarab’am from 793 to 753.) Because of the prophecy in Zech. 14:1-5 14:1 Behold, a Day of YaHuWaH comes, when your spoil will be divided in your midst. 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Yahrushalom to battle; and the city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go out into captivity, but the remnant of the people will not be cut off from the city. 14:3 Then YaHuWaH will go out and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle. 14:4 His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Yahrushalom on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, making a very great valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 14:5 You shall flee by the valley of My mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Atsel; yes, you shall flee, just like you fled from before the earthquake in the days of UzziYahuw sovereign of Yahuwdah.
Yosephus links the earthquake to UzziYahuw’s sin of coveting the role of the priests, which earned him the punishment common to such sins, leprosy. (2 Chron. 26:16-23) The word for earthquake actually means “shaking”, which is also the root for “head” and “beginning”, so as at creation, YaHuWaH was bringing something new out of the chaos and destruction being prophesied here. Indeed, YashaYahuw’s vision of YaHuWaH as exalted (YashaYahuw. 6) came at his time of disillusionment at the death of UzziYahuw, once one of Yahuwdah’s finest kings.
1:2 He said:
“ YaHuWaH will roar from Tsiyown, and utter His Voice from Yahrushalom; and the pastures of the shepherds will mourn, and the top of Karmel will wither.”
1:3 Thus says YaHuWaH :
“For three transgressions of Dammeseq, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment; [3+4=7 completeness]
because they have threshed Gil'ad with threshing instruments of iron;
1:4 but I will send a fire into the house of Chaz'el,
and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.
1:5 I will break the bar of Dammeseq,
and cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Awen,
and him who holds the scepter from the Bayith Eden;
and the people of Aram shall go into captivity to Qiyr,”
says YaHuWaH.
1:6 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions of Azza, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because they carried away captive a whole population, to deliver them up to Edom;
1:7 but I will send a fire on the wall of Azza,
and it will devour its palaces.
1:8 I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdowd,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashqelown;
and I will turn my hand against Eqrown;
and the remnant of the Pelishtiym will perish,”
says YaHuWaH Aluahiym.
1:9 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions of Tsor, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because they delivered up a whole community to Edom, and didn’t remember the brotherly covenant;
1:10 but I will send a fire on the wall of Tsor,
and it will devour its palaces.”
1:11 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions by Edom, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because he pursued his brother with the sword,
and cast off all pity, and his anger raged continually,
and he kept his wrath forever;
1:12 but I will send a fire on Teyman,
and it will devour the palaces of Botsrah.”
1:13 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions by the children of Ammown, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment;
because they have ripped open the pregnant women of Gil'ad, that they may enlarge their border.
1:14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah,
and it will devour its palaces,
with shouting in the day of battle,
with a storm in the day of the whirlwind;
1:15 and their king will go into captivity,
he and his princes together,”
says YaHuWaH.
2:1 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions by Mow'ab, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;
2:2 but I will send a fire on Mow'ab,
and it will devour the palaces of Qeriyowth;
and Mow'ab will die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the shofar;
2:3 and I will cut off the judge from their midst,
and will kill all its princes with him,”
says YaHuWaH.
2:4 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“For three transgressions of Yahuwdah, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because they have rejected YaHuWaH’s Torah,
and have not kept His statutes,
and their lies have led them astray,
after which their fathers walked;
2:5 But I will send a fire on Yahuwdah,
and it will devour the palaces of Yahrushalom.”
2:6 Thus says YaHuWaH :
“For three transgressions of Ysra'al, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because they have sold the righteous One for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals;
Selling the righteous one for silver: Though Yahuwdah appeared to have been responsible for Yahuwshuwah's death, it was really on account of the Northern Kingdom (Ysra'al)’s sins that He came and died. (Mat. 15:24)
2:7 They trample on the dust of the earth, on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane My Set-apart Name;
2:8 and they lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their mighty one they drink the wine of those who have been fined.
2:9 Yet I destroyed the Emoriy before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars,
and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
2:10 Also I brought you up out of the land of Mitsrayim, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Emoriy.
2:11 I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Naziyr.
Isn’t this true, you children of Ysra'al?” says YaHuWaH.
2:12 “But you gave the Naziyr wine to drink,
and commanded the prophets, saying, ‘Don’t prophesy!’
2:13 Behold, I will crush you in your place, as a cart crushes that is full of grain.
2:14 Flight will perish from the swift; and the strong won’t strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;
2:15 neither shall he stand who handles the bow; and he who is swift of foot won’t escape;
neither shall he who rides the horse deliver himself;
2:16 and he who is courageous among the mighty will flee away naked on That Day,” says YaHuWaH.
3:1 Hear this Word that YaHuWaH has spoken against you, children of Ysra'al, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Mitsrayim, and I quote:
3:2 “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your crookedness.”
3:3 Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?
3:4 Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey?
Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?
[I.e., would I be saying these things if I were not about to do something severe to you? It is too late to keep it from taking place.]
3:5 Can a bird fall in a trap on the earth, where no snare is set for him?
Does a snare spring up from the ground, when there is nothing to catch?
3:6 If a shofar is sounded in a city, won't the people tremble with fear?
Sounded: the particular term used refers to short, staccato notes that signified an alarm due to an impending attack.
If there is a calamity in a city,
shall not YaHuWaH have done it?
3:7 Surely YaHuWaH Aluahiym will do nothing, unless He reveals His secret (yod) to His servants the prophets.
3:8 The lion has roared.
Who will not fear?
YaHuWaH Aluahiym has spoken.
Who can but prophesy?
3:9 Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdowd, and in the palaces in the land of Mitsrayim, and say, “Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Shomerown, and see the great disturbances within her, and the exploitation being perpetrated in her innermost sectors.”
Disturbances: confusion, disquietings, panic, trouble, or turmoil.
3:10 “Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says YaHuWaH, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”
3:11 Therefore thus says YaHuWaH Aluahiym: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will bring down your ability to prevail, and your palaces will be plundered.”
3:12 Thus says YaHuWaH:
“As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Ysra'al be rescued who sit in Shomerown on the corner of a bed, and on the edge of a couch.”
3:13 “Listen, and testify against the House of Ya'aqob,” says Sovereign YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies.
3:14 “For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Ysra'al on him, I will also visit the altars of Bayith 'Al; [translated as: House of G_d] and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground.
3:15 I will strike the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will have an end,” says YaHuWaH.
4:1 Listen to this word, you cows [kine] of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Shomerown, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who are saying to their masters, “Bring wine, let us drink!”
[Ashaq (h6231) aw-shak'; a prim. root (comp. 6229); to press upon, i. e. oppress, defraud, violate, overflow: - get deceitfully, deceive, defraud, drink up, (use) oppress ([-ion], -or), to violence (wrong).]
4:2 YaHuWaH Aluahiym has sworn by His righteousness that behold,
“The days shall come on you that they will take you away with hooks, and the last of you with fish hooks.
4:3 You will go out at the breaks in the wall, each woman before her; and you will be cast out toward Harmown,” says YaHuWaH.
4:4 “Come to Bayith 'Al, and sin; [translated as: House of G_d] to Gilgal, and sin more. Bring your slaughterings every morning, your tithes every three days,
4:5 offer a offering of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim free will offerings and brag about them: for this pleases you, you children of Ysra'al,” says YaHuWaH Aluahiym.
4:6 “I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places; (temples-places of worship)
yet you haven’t returned to Me,” says YaHuWaH.
4:7 “I also have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city.
One place was rained on, and the piece where it didn’t rain withered.
4:8 So two or three cities staggered to one city to drink water, and were not satisfied: yet you haven’t returned to Me,” says YaHuWaH.
4:9 “I struck you with blight and mildew many times in your gardens and your vineyards; and your fig trees and your olive trees have the swarming locust devoured: yet you haven’t returned to Me,” says YaHuWaH.
4:10 “I sent plagues among you like I did Mitsrayim.
I have slain your young men with the sword, and have carried away your horses;
and I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camp, yet you haven’t returned to Me,” says YaHuWaH.
4:11 “I have overthrown some of you, as when Aluahiym overthrew Sedom and Amorah, and you were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire; yet you haven’t returned to Me,” says YaHuWaH. (Zech. 3:1)
4:12 “Therefore thus will I do to you, Ysra'al; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your Aluahiym, O Ysra'al!
4:13 For, behold, I brought the thunder, and I made the wind, and declares to man what is his thought; for He produces the dawn and the fog, and treads on the high places of the Earth: YaHuWaH the Aluahiym Master of Armies is His Name.”
5:1 Listen to this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O House of Ysra'al.
5:2 “The virgin of Ysra'al has fallen; She shall rise no more. She is cast down on her Land; there is no one to raise her up.”
5:3 For thus says the Sovereign YaHuWaH: “The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth one hundred shall have ten left to the House of Ysra'al.” [a tithe]
5:4 For thus says YaHuWaH to the House of Ysra'al: “Seek Me, and you will live;
5:5 but don’t seek Bayith 'Al, nor enter into Gilgal, and don’t pass to Be'er Sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bayith 'Al shall come to nothing.
5:6 Seek YaHuWaH, and you will live; lest He break out like fire in the House of Yowseph, and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel.
5:7 You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:
5:8 seek Him Who made the Kimah (seven stars) and Kesil (Orion), and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night; Who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth: YaHuWaH is His Name! [Tsunami?]
5:9 He causes devastation to burst forth upon the fierce, so that devastation comes upon the stronghold.
5:10 They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.
5:11 Forasmuch therefore as you trample on the poor, and take taxes from him of wheat: You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them.
You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.
5:12 For I know how many are your offenses, and how great are your sins—you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn aside the needy in the courts.
5:13 Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.
5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies, will be with you, as you say.
5:15 Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Yowseph.”
5:16 Therefore YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies, YaHuWaH, said this:
“Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’
and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.
5:17 In all vineyards there will be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you,” says YaHuWaH.
5:18 “Woe to you who desire the Day of YaHuWaH!
For what good is the Day of YaHuWaH to you?
It will be darkness, and not light.
5:19 As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.
The house… snake: The counterfeit Maschiach is present both within Judaism and Christianity.
5:20 Won’t the Day of YaHuWaH be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
5:21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.
5:22 Yes, though you offer Me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.
5:23 Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
5:24 But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.
5:25 “You brought me slaughterings and meal offerings in the wilderness for forty years, O House of Ysra'al, 5:26 but took up Sikkut you sovereign and Kiyyun [saturn], your idols, your astral mighty ones, which you made for yourselves. 5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Dammeseq,” says YaHuWaH, Whose Name is the Aluahiym Master of Armies.
6:1 Woe to those who are at ease in Tsiyown, and to those who are trusting in the mountain of Shomerown, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the House of Ysra'al come!
6:2 Go to Kalneh, and see; and from there go to Chamath Rabbah; then go down to Gath of the Pelishtiym. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?
6:3 Those who put far away the evil Day, [Day of YaHuWaH] and cause the seat of violence (Hamas) to come near;
6:4 Who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves on their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
6:5 who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like Dawiyd;
6:6 who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best oils;
but they are not grieved for the affliction of Yowseph.
6:7 Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.
6:8 “ YaHuWaH Aluahiym has sworn by Himself,” says YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies: “I abhor the pride of Ya'aqob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.
6:9 It will happen, if there remain ten men in one house,
that they shall die.
6:10 “When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘Is there yet any with you?’ And he says, ‘No;’ then he will say, ‘Hold your tongue! For we dare not mention the Name of YaHuWaH.’
6:11 “For, behold, YaHuWaH commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, and the little house into bits.
6:12 Do horses run on the rocky crags?
Does one plow there with oxen?
But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;
6:13 you who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, ‘Haven’t we taken for ourselves horns by our own strength?’ [horns - symbol of power/domination]
6:14 For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, House of Ysra'al,” says YaHuWaH, the Aluahiym Master of Armies; “and they will afflict you from the entrance of Chamath to the river of the Arabah (wilderness).”
7:1 Thus YaHuWaH Aluahiym showed me: and behold, He formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and behold, it was the latter growth after the king’s harvest.
[Septuagint Translation of 7:1 reads: "Thus the YaHuWaH Aluahiym showed me, and behold a swarm of locusts were coming, and behold, one of the young devastating locusts was Gog, the King." --- Yet Proverbs 30:7 reveals that "the locusts have no king," ---- But in Rev. 9:1 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. 9:2 He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. 9:3 Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. ..... The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war. 9:10 They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months. 9:11 They have over them as king the messenger of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is “Abaddon,” but in Greek, he has the name “Apollyon.” 9:12 The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.]
7:2 It happened that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the Land, then I said, “Master Aluahiym, pardon, I beg you! How could Ya'aqob stand? For he is small.”
7:3 YaHuWaH relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” says YaHuWaH.
7:4 Thus YaHuWaH Aluahiym showed me and behold, YaHuWaH Aluahiym called for judgment by fire; and it dried up the great deep, and would have devoured the territory. 7:5 Then I said, “Master Aluahiym, stop, I beg you! How could Ya'aqob stand? For he is small.”
7:6 YaHuWaH relented concerning this. “This also shall not be,” says YaHuWaH Aluahiym.
7:7 Thus he showed me and behold, YaHuWaH stood beside a wall (a system of beliefs) made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand. 7:8 YaHuWaH said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”
[Plumb line: an instrument of judgment, measuring what is and is not upright.]
I said, “A plumb line.”
Then YaHuWaH said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the midst of My people Ysra'al. I will not again pass by them any more. 7:9 The high places of Yitschaq will be desolate, the sanctuaries of Ysra'al will be laid waste; and I will rise against the House of Yarob'am with the sword.”
7:10 Then AmatsYahuw the priest of Bayith 'Al (House of G_d) sent to Yeroboam king of Ysra'al, saying, “Amows has conspired against you in the midst of the House of Ysra'al. The Land is not able to bear all his words. 7:11 For Amows says, ‘Yarob'am will die by the sword, and Ysra'al shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”
7:12 AmatsYahuw also said to Amows, “You seer, go, flee away into the land of Yahuwdah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: 7:13 but don’t prophesy again any more at Bayith 'Al [translated as: House of G_d]; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”
7:14 Then Amos answered AmazYahuw, “I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs; 7:15 and YaHuWaH took me from following the flock, and YaHuWaH said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Ysra'al.’
[A herdsman would be an ideal person to tend sycamore figs, for they are inedible unless someone at the right time pierces them with a tiny reed and rubs olive oil on them, in which case they ripen very delicious. He would have the best vantage point to watch his flocks from such a tree, and could tend to the “figs” at the same time. The Mashiyach’s title means “anointed” (smeared with oil), and He, too, was pierced for our iniquities so He could be partaken of. (YashaYahuw 53) So Amos was also faithful in protecting a picture of the Mashiyach.]
7:16 Now therefore listen to the Word of YaHuWaH: ‘You say, Don’t prophesy against Ysra'al, and don’t proclaim against the House of Yitschaq.’(thus Ysra'al = House of Yitschaq) 7:17 Therefore thus says YaHuWaH: ‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your Land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Ysra'al shall surely be led away captive out of his Land.’”
8:1 Thus YaHuWaH Aluahiym showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.
8:2 He said, “Amows, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.”
Then YaHuWaH said to me, “The end has come on My people Ysra'al.
I will not again pass by them any more.
8:3 The songs of the temple will be wailings in that day,” says YaHuWaH Aluahiym.
“The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.
8:4 Hear this, you who desire to swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the Land to fail,
8:5 Saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain?
And the shabbath, that we may market wheat, making the efah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;
8:6 that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the sweepings with the wheat?’”
8:7 YaHuWaH has sworn by the pride of Ya'aqob [an idiom for the Land of Ysra'al],
“Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8:8 Won’t the Land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, all of it shall swell like the river; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Mitsrayim.
8:9 It will happen in That Day,” says YaHuWaH Aluahiym,
“that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.
8:10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation;
and I will make you wear sackcloth on all your bodies, and baldness on every head.
I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
(this happened when Yahuwshua was on the stake. [Matt. 27:45 Now from the sixth hour (beginning at noon) until the ninth hour (3 pm) there was darkness over all the Land.] .… and a replay will occur on "That Day".)
Zech. 12:10 I will pour on the House of Dawiyd, and on the inhabitants of Yahrushalum, the spirit of favour and of supplication; and they will look to Me, Aleph Taw, whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for His only Son, and will grieve bitterly for Him, as one grieves for His Firstborn.
8:11 Behold, the Days come,” says YaHuWaH Aluahiym, “that I will send a famine in the Land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Words of YaHuWaH .
8:12 They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east;
they will run back and forth seeking a Word from YaHuWaH, and will not find it.
[“And they will wander from sea to sea, and from the north all the way to the sunrise; they will run to and fro to search for a word [from] YaHuWaH, but they will not be able to find [one].] [SFWH of Y]
8:13 In That Day the beautiful virgins and the young men will faint for thirst.
8:14 Those who swear by the sin of Shomerown, and say, ‘As your Aluahiym lives, O Dan;’ and, ‘As the way of Be'er Sheba lives;’ they will fall, and never rise up again.”
9:1 I saw YaHuWaH standing beside the altar, and He said, “Strike the tops of the pillars, that the thresholds may shake; and break them in pieces on the head of all of them; and I will kill the last of them with the sword: there shall not one of them flee away, and there shall not one of them escape.
Thresholds: Ancient edifices, such as the misnamed “Par'oh’s treasury” at Petra, often had basins cut into the threshold so that libations of wine or blood could be poured out there to dedicate the building to whatever deity was being honored thereby. So in the context of Ysra'al this represents a covenant with someone other than YaHuWaH. The Temple in Yahrushalom would NOT have such basins. Capital of the pillar: which upheld the pagan temples, as we see in the account of Shimshon’s death. (Judges 16:26ff) Again, there were two pillars in front of Shelomo’s Temple (1 Kings 7:21), but they did not uphold anything, but were symbolic only.]
9:2 Though they dig into she'owl, there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to skys, there I will bring them down. 9:3 Though they hide themselves in the top of Karmel, I will search and take them out there; and though they be hid from My sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them. 9:4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set My eyes on them for evil, and not for good. 9:5 For YaHuWaH, Aluahiym Master of Armies, is He Who touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it will mourn; and it will rise up wholly like the river, and will sink again, like the River of Mitsrayim. 9:6 It is He Who builds His chambers in the heavens, and has founded His strata in the earth; He Who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth; YaHuWaH is His Name.
9:7 Are you not like the Kuwshiy to Me, children of Ysra'al?” says YaHuWaH. “Haven’t I brought up Ysra'al out of the land of Mitsrayim, and the Pelishtiym from Kaphtor, and the Aram from Qiyr? 9:8 Behold, the eyes of YaHuWaH Aluahiym are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth; except that I will not utterly destroy the House of Ya'aqob,” says YaHuWaH. 9:9. “For, behold, I will command, and I will sift the House of Ysra'al among all the nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet not the least kernel will fall on the earth. 9:10 All the sinners of My people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil won’t overtake nor meet us.’ 9:11 In That Day I will raise up the booth of Dawiyd which has fallen down, and repair its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old; 9:12 that they may possess the remnant of Adam (some have Edom), and all the nations upon whom My Name is called,” says YaHuWaH Who does this.
9:13 “Behold, the Days come,” says YaHuWaH,
“that the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
and the one treading grapes him who sows seed;
and sweet wine will drip from the mountains, and flow from the hills.
9:14 I will bring My people Ysra'al back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
9:15 I will plant them on their Land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their Land which I have given them,” says YaHuWaH your Aluahiym.
